Sub: Recovery of premium for the 21 year (for renewal) and new membership
for Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (GPAIS)
1. This is regarding the ongoing GPAIS (Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme) circulated vide
reference no. cited above. The ongoing GPAIS which is valid for two years is operated by The New
India Assurance Company Ltd. In this connection, employees who have opted for the scheme in 2018,
are hereby informed that respective yearly premium for the same will be deducted from the pay bill of
September, 2019 as per the mandate given against the above referred circular issued in the year 2018.
2. However, any addition/deletion in respect of dependent(s) of these GPAIS members (employees who
have opted for GPAIS in 2018) can be made online through ESS login from 26.08.2019 to
16.09.2019.
3. Employees on the rolls of the Company, who have not opted for GPAIS earlier and are desirous now
for the same, can also apply online as per the terms and conditions stipulated in the circular dated
07.09.2018. However their mandate will be valid for one year only. Such employees have to submit
their mandate/option online through ESS login from 26.08.2019 to 16.09.2019. Applicable premium
for the respective employee will be deducted from the pay bill of September, 2019 and coverage of
GPAIS for such employee(s) the policy will start from 03.11.2019.
4. It is once again reiterated that insurance coverage under the GPAIS will be effected subject to
recovery of applicable premium amount in full in a single installment for the applicable period from
the salary bill of the concerned employee. Hence, it is the onus of the concerned employee to ensure
availability of requisite corpus in his/her salary towards deduction of applicable premium for the year
failing which membership of the concerned employee will be out of purview of the insurance
coverage under the scheme.
5. Please note that the on-line module for entering data in respect of GPAIS along with submission of
premium through ESS login will be made available from 26.08.2019 to 16.09.2019. For existing
members, after editing, employee has to submit the data again failing which earlier entered data will
be treated as final data for the GPAIS and further necessary action shall be taken accordingly.
6. After final submission, no change/revision/updation would be allowed. After editing and saving the
entered data for yearly premium submission for 2" year renewal (for updation purpose only w.r.t.
existing members) / new registration, the employee who has opted for GPAIS can take print out of the
policy member details only after pressing a 'submit' button so as to enable database updation in
respect of earlier opted employee(s) / new registration of the policy. Employees are requested to take
a print out of their enrolment for future reference.

Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme for Employees of DSP & their family members

SALIENT FEATURES

1.0 OBJECTIVE

1.1 The Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (GPAIS) is for providing financial assistant to the
employees (Executive and Non-Executive) and their family members, in case of Death / Permanent Total
Disablement / Permanent Partial Disablement / Temporary Total Disablement due to accident.

1.2 There will be no financial contribution by the Management of Durgapur Steel Plant for operation of the
Scheme. However, for operation of the Scheme, necessary administrative support will be provided by the
Management of Durgapur Steel Plant.

2.0 ADMISSIBILITY

2.1 The family members to include


(a) Spouse and
(b) Dependent children aged between 5 years to 25 years.

• Children having any source of income and daughters who are married will not be eligible.

2.2 AGE LIMIT OF THE DEPENDENT SON / DAUGHTER:


The present GPAIS scheme is valid for one year and hence, the maximum & minimum age of the
dependent son / daughter will be as follows:
(i) Maximum age: Not more than 24 years as on 03.11.2019.
(ii) Minimum age: 5 year as on 03.11.2019.

3.0 PREMIUM AND AMOUNT OF CAPITAL SUM INSURED

3.1 The premium shall be paid by the individual member. Premium amount shall be deducted from the
employees' salary and remitted to the Insurance Company.
3.2 The employee can opt to become member of GPAIS by paying the requisite premium one time for the
Policy year in full and in single installment.
3.3 The employee can opt for insurance coverage for any of the following slabs:-
Employee Employee can opt for Capital Sum Insured of Rs.5
lakhs/10 lakhs/15 lakhs/20 lakhs/ 25 lakhs/30 lakhs
(in multiple of 5 Lakhs only)
Earning Spouse As applicable to employees
Non-earning spouse Rs.5 lakhs
Children between age of 5 to 25 years Rs.2 lakh per child

3.4 The capital sum insured cannot be revised during the tenure of the policy.

4.0 MID TERM INCLUSION

4.1 During operation of the scheme, mid-term inclusion of employee is not allowed unless he/she is a new
recruitee or transferred from other units of SAIL or newly married spouse during operation of the policy. In
such cases he/she is to be included as a member by paying the required premium on pro-rata basis based
on the basic premium. There is no provision of refund of premium.

4.2 In case, an employee, who is a member of GPAIS, leaves the organization during tenure of the
scheme/policy, due to retirement / voluntary retirement / superannuation / transfer etc., his/her
membership under the GPAIS will continue till the expiry of the scheme (policy year) up to the period for
which annual premium has been paid and he/she shall be eligible for the benefits during tenure of the
scheme/policy.

5.0 BENEFIT UNDER THE SCHEME

5.1 The GPAIS shall cover physical loss to an insured person due to an accidental injury anywhere in the world
for 24 hours in a day and the compensation shall become payable on death or disablement under the
following broad categories:-

a) Death of the Insured Person.


b) Permanent Total Disablement (PTD).
e) Permanent Partial Disablement (PPD).
d) Temporary Total Disablement (TTD)
In case of Death/
Compensation shall be paid to the extent of 100% of the Capital Sum Insured
Permanent Total
(CSI) to the nominee of the insured.
Disablement
In case of Permanent Total Compensation shall be paid to the extent of 100% of the CSI to the nominee of
Disablement (PTD) the insured for PTD on account of bodily injury sustained in an accident(including
terrorism or acts of terrorism) resulting in total irrecoverable loss of use or actual
loss by physical separation of the limbs/sight.
In case of Temporary Total Weekly compensation shall be paid by the Insurer and the same will be
Disablement (TTD) computed on the basis of loss of weekly earning (Basic Pay + Dearness
Allowance) subject to maximum 1 % of CSI or Rs.5,000/- per week whichever is
lower. Compensation shall be payable only for the period of disablement
provided the hospitalization period is 3 days or more. TTD is applicable to
employees and earning spouse too.

In case of Permanent Compensation shall be paid proportionately for PPD on account of bodily injury
Partial Disablement (PPD) sustained in an accident (including terrorism or acts of terrorism) resulting in
total and / or partial irrecoverable loss of use or the actual loss by physical
separation of defined body parts. The PPD varies from 1% to 100% of sum
insured depending on the disablement as furnished below:

6.0 The policy would cover the member for 24 hours in a day for accident occurring anywhere in the world.

7.0 The Policy shall not cover (a) any claim exceeding the sum insured and
(b) suicide, attempted suicide, self-injuries, HIV / AIDS / VD, breach of law,
influence of liquor / drugs, pregnancy related claim, war (excluding terrorism or
acts of terrorism) and nuclear disasters.

8.0 PERIOD OF INSURANCE COVERAGE:


Coverage of the insurance shall be valid for one (01) year from 03.11.2019.

9.0 PAYMENT OF INSURANCE PREMIUM:

(a) The mandate for membership from the individual employee under the present GPAIS scheme will be
taken for the entire policy period.
However, to ensure continuity of Insurance Coverage, deduction of applicable premium for the
scheme will be made from the paybill of September, 2019 of the optee employees.

(b) Insurance coverage under GPAIS will be effected subject to recovery of applicable premium amount in
full in a single installment for the applicable period from the salary bill of the concerned employee.
Therefore, it is the responsibility of the concerned employee to ensure availability of requisite corpus in
his/her salary towards deduction of applicable premium failing which membership of the concerned
employee will be out of purview of the insurance coverage under the scheme.

(c) The premium shall be paid by the individual members in a single installment based on the mandate
franchised in this regard. Arrangement will be made by Durgapur Steel Plant for deduction of the
annual premium from the employee's salary and remitting the same to the Insurance Company.

10.0 INSURANCE POLICY:


On payment of premium, a signed policy will be made available to Durgapur Steel Plant and will be
uploaded in the ESS login of the employee.

11.0 The premium for insurance coverage for capital sum of Rs. One Lakh per insured person per annum (one
year) shall be is Rs.18.50/-(Rupees Eighteen and Fifty paisa only) plus taxes as applicable from time to
time.
