The Park 5K Domestic Violence Awareness Run/ Walk

Charlotte, NC 一The sixth annual Park Community Development Corporation, CDC, 5K

Domestic Violence Awareness Run/ Walk took place June 22 at The Park Expo and Conference
Center. On this day, friends, family, church members, other organizations, like Speed for Need,
and sponsors gathered together to support the cause and raise awareness of domestic violence.

“We have partnered with The Park six years and are proud that Park is a leader to raise
awareness in domestic violence” said Ron Kimble, one of the co-founders of Jamie Kimble
Foundation for Courage. He continues, “The first step to change is awareness.”

As participants stretch, enjoy breakfast, and catch up with one another, Mrs. Melanie Pratt opens
the event with a greeting and introduction of The Park’s Bishop Claude Richard Alexander, Jr.
While the bishop welcomes and thanks the crowd for participating in the awareness, he presents
an award to Jamie Kimble Foundation and an award to Safe Alliance for their support.

After the bishop prays over the participants, Speed for Need starts off the 5k with the other
participants following after. After 20 minutes of waiting, awards, medals, refreshments,
cheering, and high fives awaits the finished participants. Even with some taking longer than
others, the shared goal was to raise awareness for domestic violence and to finish strong.
