Cari tutti di voi,
Da più di venti anni sono tornato e posso solo ri-
petere il mio desiderio del passato a quelli di voi
venire a Riva per la prima volta: lasciatevi ispirare!
Bentornato a qualcuno di voi che ha già soggiorna-
to qui con noi!
Il Concorso Corale Internazionale è un equivalente
di belle volte e il meraviglioso momento di „sentirsi
a casa“ presso il prezioso lago di Garda!
Tutti noi sono stati influenzati dai cambiamenti del
tempo e diverse circostanze. Che cosa mai cambia-
to in tutti gli anni passati è la risposta gioiosa dei
cori, quel senso di unità familiare e di amicizia che
nasce e si diffonde quando le persone si incontrano
in musica e ciò che rimane nei loro cuori i giorni e
gli anni successivi.
Attraverso il supporto instancabile e la gentilezza i
tutti gli organizzatori e del team di entrambe le par-
ti, è ancora una volta quello che è sempre stato: un
incontro gioioso nella musica!
Lasciatevi ispirare a diversi concerti, dallo spirito
travolgente delle cerimonie di premiazione, che vi
lascerà con un amore incrollabile, un sorriso sul tuo
volto, a volte le lacrime agli occhi, ore insonni e for-
te motivazione per quello che sarà in futuro.
Mi permetta di prendere questi momenti qui per
esprimere i miei più sentiti ringraziamenti a tut-
ti quelli che hanno lavorato così duramente per
rendere possibile la vostra partecipazione. So che
molti luoghi del mondo non sono così tranquilli e
silenziosi e sono grato di restituire un po’di questi
beni siamo tutti alla ricerca d’incontro con la musi-
ca. Grazie a tutti i nostri compagni, grazie al nostro
team. Grazie ancora a voi: nostri cori, per questo
Incontro in Musica.

Dear All of You,
Since more than twenty years I’ve come back, and
I can only repeat my wish from the past to those of
you coming to Riva for the first time: let yourself be
inspired! Welcome back to some of you who has
already stayed here with us!
Concorso Corale Internazionale is an equivalent to
beautiful times and the wonderful moment of “fee-
ling at home” at the precious Lake Garda!
All of us have been influenced by the changes of
the time and several circumstances. What never
changed in all years is the joyful response of the
choirs, that familiar sense of unity and friendship
that arises and spreads when people meet in mu-
sic and what remains in their hearts the days and
years after.
Through the tireless support and kindness of all
organiser and the team of both sides, this year´s
event again is what it always was: A joyful meeting
in music!
Let yourself be inspired at different concerts, by the
overwhelming spirit of the Prize Giving Ceremonies
which will leave you with an unshakable love, a
smile on your face, sometimes tears in your eyes,
sleepless hours and strong motivation for what will
be in the future.
Let me take these moments here to express my
deepest thanks to all of you who worked so hard to
make your participation possible. I know that many
places in the world are not that peaceful and silent
and I am grateful to give back to you a little bit of
these goods we are all searching for through mee-
ting in music.

Nel rivolgere il più caloroso benvenuto ai tantis-
simi partecipanti al concorso corale internazio-
nale 15 Concorso Corale Internazionale, voglio
aggiungere un sentito augurio di buon comple-
anno agli organizzatori, per l‘importante meta
dei quindici anni di vita. Agli uni e agli altri dico
che la città di Riva del Garda è onorata di ospita-
re anche quest‘anno un appuntamento canoro
di tale prestigio, che richiama diverse centinaia
di coristi di svariati collettivi provenienti da tan-
ti Paesi diversi, portando una ventata non solo
di musica e di canto, ma anche di vivacità e di
allegria.
Chi la conosce, sa che Riva del Garda ha un rap-
porto speciale con la musica. Qui abbiamo un
Conservatorio, una Scuola musicale, un liceo
musicale, e ospitiamo numerosi concorsi, festi-
val e concerti. La musica è uno degli elementi
che caratterizzano la nostra città, facendone
un luogo particolarmente aperto, ospitale e di-
vertente. Qualità che, ne sono certo, saranno
apprezzate anche dai coristi del 15° concorso,
che voglio ringraziare non solo delle esibizioni
“ufficiali”, ma anche di quelle che – lo sappiamo
dalle scorse edizioni – sentiremo nelle vie e nelle
piazze, provenire da concorrenti che si stanno
allenando o, più semplicemente, fanno quello
che amano fare: cantare.
Auguro a tutti voi un sereno soggiorno sulla riva
settentrionale del lago, la piena gratificazio-
ne per l‘entusiasmo e per l‘impegno nel canto
corale, e il migliore esito per questa bellissima
manifestazione.

I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to the
very many participants of the 15 Concorso Cora-
le Internazionale and would like to add a special
„Happy Birthday“ wish to the organizers, as the
contects has now reached its fifteenth year. To
both the participants and the organizers I would
like to say that Riva del Garda is honoured to
host such a prestigious event once again, which
unites several hundred choir-singers of various
types and from numerous countries, and brings
not just the wonderful sound of music and sin-
ging to out town, but also liveliness and joy.
Those who already know Riva del Garda are
aware that it has a special relationship with
music. We have a Music Conservatory, a Music
School and a Music High School and host nume-
rous music contests, competitions and festivals.
Music is one of the elements that characterize
our town, making it an espacially open, hospita-
ble and fun place. These qualities, I am sure, will
also be appreciated by the singers participating
in the 15th Concorso Corale Internazionale, and
I would like to thank these singers not just for
their „official“ exhibitions, but also - as we know
from past editions – for those that we will hear
in the steets and on the squares in town, as the
competitors rehearse or simple do what they en-
joy doing most, and that is singing.
I wish you all a very pleasant stay on the northern
shores of the lake, and hope you will all be re-
warded for your enthusiasm and commitment
in your singing, and wish this wonderful event
great success.

Diplomato presso l’Accademia di Musica Liszt di
Budapest, ha frequentato corsi di perfezionamen-
to con Eric Ericson, Kurt Masur e László Somogyi.
E direttore principale dell’Orchestra Dohnányi
Budafok, una delle principali orchestre sinfoniche
dell’Ungheria. Con il suo coro, il Budapest Acade-
mic Choral Society, ha vinto primi premi in tutte
le competizioni corali europee riconosciute. Nel
2002 diventa Direttore Ospite della Jerusalem
Symphony Orchestra e Consulente Musicale dei
Philharmonia Singers Tel Aviv. Viene regolarmen-
te invitato in Israele, Taiwan, Brasile e Stati Uniti,
per lavorare con orchestre.
Forma giovani direttori d’orchestra e tiene rego-
larmente corsi di perfezionamento in direzione
sia in Ungheria che all’estero. Il suo laboratorio
di direzione e diventato il momento clou dell’an-
nuale Festival corale di Taipei. Il suo progetto
Sing &Joy, che riunisce cori provenienti da tutto
il mondo per cantare insieme, e diventato molto
popolare in tutto il mondo.
Ha avviato un concetto artistico rivoluzionario di
concorsi corali; la serie basata su di esso divenne
famosa con il nome di “Musica Mundi”. E stato
cofondatore e direttore artistico di Interkultur e
dei World Choir Games fino al 2013.
E fondatore e direttore artistico di InChoral, che
organizza, in collaborazione con meeting music,
festival corali e concorsi internazionali basati sul
suo noto concetto, con grande enfasi nel dare
aiuto e incoraggiamento ai cori per il loro miglio-
ramento e sviluppo.
Dal 2004 e direttore artistico del Festival Zemplén,
uno dei piu prestigiosi festival artistici dell’Unghe-
ria. Nel 2015 gli e stato conferito il titolo di «A
Merit Artist» nel suo Paese natale, l‘Ungheria.
Graduated at the Liszt Academy of Music in Buda-
pest, attended master classes with Eric Ericson,
Kurt Masur and László Somogyi.
Principal conductor of the Dohnányi Orchestra
Budafok, one of Hungary’s top symphony orches-
tras. With his choir, the Budapest Academic Cho-
ral Society, he won first prizes at all recognized
European choir competitions.
In 2002 he became Chief Guest Conductor of the
Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and Musical Ad-
visor of the Philharmonia Singers Tel Aviv. He is
regularly invited to Israel, Taiwan, Brazil and the
United States, working with orchestras.
He is engaged in training young conductors and
he has regularly given master classes on conduc-
ting both in Hungary and abroad. His conducting
workshop became the highlight of the annual Tai-
pei Choral Festival. His Sing &Joy project, that uni-
tes choirs from all over the world to sing together,
has become highly popular all around the world.
He initiated a revolutionary new artistic concept
of choir competitions; the series based on it be-
came renowned under the name of “MUSICA
MUNDI”. He was co-founder and artistic director
of Interkultur and of the World Choir Games until
2013. He is founder and artistic director of InCho-
ral, that organises – in co-operation with meeting
music – choir festivals and competitions based on
his well-known concept, with great emphasis on
giving help and encouragement to choirs for their
improvement and development.
Since 2004 he is the artistic director of the Zem-
plén Festival, one of the most prestigious art festi-
vals in Hungary. In 2015 he was awarded the title
of A Merit Artist by his home country Hungary.
Nato a Trento, si è diplomato in pianoforte, Mu-
sica Corale e Direzione di Coro, Didattica della
Musica e in Composizione. Ha inoltre studiato
con Franco Donatoni, Salvatore Sciarrino ed En-
nio Morricone presso l‘Accademia Chigiana di Si-
ena, la Fondazione Romanini di Brescia ed il Fes-
tival delle Nazioni di Città di Castello, ottenendo
borse di studio come miglior allievo italiano.
Attivo come pianista e come direttore di coro
ha tenuto più di 800 concerti in tutta Europa, in
Ukraina e nella Repubblica Cinese di Taiwan. Ha
ottenuto numerose vittorie come direttore del
coro a concorsi corali nazionali ed internaziona-
li. Numerose sue composizioni corali sono state
pubblicate da tutti Europa ed eseguite da alcuni
tra i più importanti cori al mondo.
Oltre ad essere direttore artistico per meeting
music eventi musicali a Riva del Garda è Diretto-
re Artistico del Concorso Nazionale ed Interna-
zionale Corale di Voci Bianche “Il Garda in Coro”
di Malcesine (Verona), del Concorso Nazionale
per Cori Maschili “Luigi Pigarelli”. Board Advisor
di IFCM-International Federation for Choral Mu-
sic per il biennio 2009-2011, dell‘Associazione
Culturale EdizioniCorali.it, del Concorso Nazio-
nale “Luigi Pigarelli” per Cori Maschili di Arco
(Trento) e componente del Comitato tecnico Ar-
tistico della Federazione Cori del Trentino.
È stato consigliere di amministrazione di
IFCM-International Federation for Choral Music
per gli anni 2009-2011.
Già docente presso i Conservatori di Pescara ed
Adria, ora insegna composizione presso il Con-
servatorio di Trento.
Born in Trento (1962), he graduated in Piano
cum laude, Choral music & choir conduction,
Music didactics with the highest score and in
Composition. He studied with Franco Donatoni,
Salvatore Sciarrino and Ennio Morricone and
attended the “Accademia Chigiana” in Siena,
“Fondazione Romanini” in Brescia and “Festival
delle Nazioni” in Città di Castello, during which
he won a scholarship as the best Italian student.

tition for Children Choirs „Il Garda in Coro“ in
Malcesine (Verona), of the National Male Cho-
ral Competition “Luigi Pigarelli” in Arco (Trento),
Member of the Technical-Artistic committee of
the “Federazione Cori del Trentino” and artistic
director of the cultural association EdizioniCora-
li.it.
He has been Board Advisor of IFCM-Internatio-
nal Federation for Choral Music for the years
2009-2011.
Formerly teacher at the Conservatories in Pesca-
ra and Adria, he is now teaching composition at
the Conservatory in Trento.

Mia Makaroff è un compositore, arrangiatore,
insegnante di musica e una directrice del coro.
Nel 2003, si è laureata presso l'Accademia Sibe-
lius come un maestro di musica in studi di edu-
cazione musicale.
La sua esperienza lavorativa comprende l'inseg-
namento della musica ai bambini e ai giovani,
componendo, creando e conducendo diversi
progetti musicali. I progetti di canzone-scrittura
per i giovani sono inoltre una specialità di lei.
complessivamente sei musical della scuola sono
stati scritti ed eseguiti stati dai suoi allievi. Folk-
lore finlandese e la poesia sono grandi fonti di
ispirazione nel suo lavoro di composizione.
Molti famosi gruppi di canzoni e cori hanno por-
tato la musica ad un pubblico più vasto come ,
Rajaton, King ' s Singers, Amarcord e altri.
Ha insegnato in mastercourses a comporre per i
cori per bambini, in Neerpelt Belgio, Aosta Italia
e San Pietroburgo Russia.
Se ha anche lavorato come giurato e docente
di concorsi corali e Festival,. I suoi temi preferiti
sono la creatività, ritmiche e migliorare la comu-
nicazione.
Musica teatrale è un grande interesse di lei: È
stata coinvolta in molti progetti nazionali e inter-
nazionali, come il 2006 Song Bridge, 2012 Crown
Children un musicale bilingue, 2017 Diligam Te,
2017 Il Nuovo Carmina.
Ha viaggiato attivamente all'estero come giurato
e docente. I suoi temi preferiti sono creatività,
ritmica e miglioramento della comunicazione.

Mia Makaroff is a composer, arranger, music
teacher and a choir leader. In 2003, she gradua-
ted from the Sibelius Academy as a Master of
Music in Music Education studies.
Her work experience includes teaching music
to school children and young people, compo-
sing, creating and conducting different music
projects. Song-writing projects for young people
are also a speciality of hers: altogether six school
musicals have been written and performed by
her pupils. Finnish folklore and poetry are great
sources of inspiration in her composing work.
Many well-known song groups and choirs have
brought Mia Makaroff’s music to a wider au-
dience, such as Rajaton, King's Singers, Amar-
cord and others.
She has been teaching in master courses about
composing for children's choirs, in Belgium, Italy
and St Petersburg/ Russia and worked as a juror
and a lecturer in choir competitions and festi-
vals. Her favourite themes are creativity, rhyth-
mic and enhancing communication.
Theatre music is one big interest of hers: She has
been involved in many national and internatio-
nal projects, such as 2006 Song Bridge, 2012 bi-
lingual musical Crown Children, 2017 the mass
Diligam Te, 2017 The New Carmina.
She has actively travelled abroad as a juror and
a lecturer. Her favorite themes are creativity,
rhythmics and enhancing communication.

Giancarlo Comar ha conseguito la laurea di
secondo livello in Direzione di Coro presso il
Conservatorio di Trento ed è inoltre diplomato
in “Canto” ed in “Musica Corale e Direzione di
Coro” (Conservatori di Verona e Bologna).
Ha studiato con maestri come Gary Graden,
Tonu Kaljuste, Andrè Thomas e Lorenzo Dona-
ti, fondando a Borgo Valsugana (Trento) diverse
formazioni corali: il “Coro da Camera Trentino”
(a voci femminili), il coro misto “Valsugana Sin-
gers” e il gruppo vocale “I Madrigalisti del Bor-
go”.
Con questi complessi ha ottenuto numerose af-
fermazioni in concorsi corali nazionali (Vittorio
Veneto, Quartiano, Fermo, Verbania, Vasto), sia
nelle tradizionali categorie polifoniche che nel
canto popolare e nel genere gospel.
A livello internazionale spicca il 3° posto assolu-
to conseguito con il “Coro da Camera Trentino”
al LVI Concorso Polifonico Internazionale “Guido
d’Arezzo” (2008).
Ha composto ed arrangiato diversi brani per
coro a voci pari e voci miste.
E’ Direttore della “Scuola di Musica di Borgo,
Levico e Caldonazzo” (Trento), presso la quale
insegna anche “Educazione Corale” e “Canto”,
ed è membro del Comitato Tecnico della Federa-
zione Cori del Trentino.
E’ stato chiamato a far parte della giuria in nu-
merosi concorsi corali nazionali.

Giancarlo Comar has obtained a second level
degree in choral coducting from Conservatory of
Trento, graduated at Conservatories of Verona
and Bologna in „singing“, in „choral music and
choral conducting“.
He studied at classes with Gary Graden, Tonu
Kaljuste, Andrè Thomas and Lorenzo Donati, and
is founder of different choirs in Borgo Valsugana
(Trento) as the „Trentino Chamber Choir”, mixed
choir „Valsugana singers“ and the vocal group
"I Madrigalisti del Borgo".
Whith his choirs he succesfully performed at in-
ternational and national choral competitions in
traditional polyphonic categories, popular music
and gospel.
Together with "Trentino Chamber Choir" he
achieved the 3rd place at the LVI International
Polyphonic Competition “Guido d’Arezzo” in
2008.
He works as composer and arranger for choral
music, especially for equal and mixed voices.
Comar is director of the „School of Music of
Borgo, Levico e Caldonazzo“ (Trento), teacher in
"choral education" and "singing", and member
of the artistic Committee of the Federazione Cori
del Trentino.
Comar is familiar with jury activity and often
“behind the desk” at numerous national choral
competitions

Levente Gyöngyösi nato nel 1975 a Cluj / Ko-
lozsvár (Romania) ha studiato composizione e
pianoforte al Conservatorio Béla Bartók di Buda-
pest e con György Orbán alla Ferenc Liszt Music
Academy. Si è laureato 1999 con distinzione.
Alla performance The Stork Calif, la sua opera,
è stata eseguita, attraverso la MÁV Symphony
Orchestra diretta da György Vashegyi. La com-
posizione è stata ordinata dall‘Opera Naziona-
le Ungherese House for the Millennium Opera
Competition 2000, dove Gyöngyösi ha vinto il II.
premio. Nel 2005 l‘opera è stata rappresentata
nell‘Opera di Budapest.
Negli ultimi anni Gyöngyösi ha composto un
gran numero di opere corali per rinomati cori
ungheresi e internazionali. Il suo ciclo sinfonico
in 5 movimenti, Verkündigung (2001) per il Da-
nubia Symphony Orchestra, è stata eseguita a
Seattle dalla Seattle Symphony. La prima mon-
diale di St. Luke Passion (2008) è stata eseguita
dalla Erdődy Chamber Orchestra. La I. Symphony
(2009) è stata eseguita dalla Dohnányi Sympho-
ny Orchestra e dalla III. (Birth) Symphony (2012)
della Budapest Festival Orchestra.
E ‚noto come docente e giurato di concorsi cora-
li internazionali in Europa e all‘estero. Dal 1999
suona il continuo con l‘Orfeo Orchestra di Buda-
pest, che suona sia musica barocca che classica,
su strumenti autentici, diretta da György Vashe-
gyi.
Nel 2005, è stato onorato con il Premio Erkel
Ferenc attraverso lo Stato ungherese e nel 2009
con il Premio Bartók-Pásztory, assegnato dall‘Ac-
cademia di musica di Budapest.

Levente Gyöngyösi born 1975 in Cluj/Kolozsvár
(Romania) studied composing and piano at Béla
Bartók Conservatory in Budapest and with Gy-
örgy Orbán at Ferenc Liszt Music Academy. He
graduated 1999 with distinction.
At the performance of his opera The Stork Ca-
lif, was performed in parts, through MÁV Sym-
phony Orchestra conducted by György Vashegyi.
The composition was ordered by the Hungarian
National Opera House for the Millennium Opera
Competition 2000, where Gyöngyösi won a II.
prize. In 2005 the opera was performed in the
Opera House Budapest.
In recent years Gyöngyösi composed large num-

and international choirs. His symphonic cycle in
5 movements, Verkündigung (2001) for the Da-
nubia Symphony Orchestra, was performed in
Seattle by the Seattle Symphony. The world-pre-
miere of St. Luke Passion (2008) was performed
by the Erdődy Chamber Orchestra. The I. Sym-
phony (2009) was performed by Dohnányi Sym-
phony Orchestra, and the III. (Birth) Symphony
(2012) by the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
He is known as lecturer and adjudicator at inter-
national choral competitions in Europe and ab-
road. Since 1999 he is permanent continuo-play-
er at Orfeo Orchestra, Budapest, which plays
baroque and classical music alike, on authentic
instruments, conducted by György Vashegyi.
In 2005, he was honoured with the Erkel Fe-
renc-Prize through the Hungarian State – and
in 2009 with the Bartók-Pásztory Prize, given by
the Music Academy Budapest.

Robert Sund stato per molti anni direttore artis-

Robert Sund Chamber Choir.
Come cantante è stato membro nel coro da ca-
mera Eric Ericsons e il Kvintetten Olsson.
Per 17 anni ha insegnato direzione e l‘ensemble
di leadership presso la Royal Academy of Music
di Stoccolma. E‘ molto richiesto per condurre
corsi sia per cantanti corali e direttori.
Noto come direttore d‘orchestra in tutto il mon-
do, dai cori radiofonici di Vienna e Stoccolma
al Coro Nacional di Cuba e ha condotto la WYC
1994 e 1997. È stato workshop leader in diversi
simposi del mondo e un docente ospite e mem-
bro della giuria a concorsi corali e festival in tutto
il mondo.
Nel 2003 Robert Sund ricevette uno stipendio
onorario dal comune di Uppsala e la targa di Pe-
ter Cornelius a Magonza. Nel 2004 ha ricevuto
la medaglia re dell‘ 8° magnitudo con un nastro
blu brillante per un servizio prezioso come diret-
tore del coro maschile Orphei Drängar. Nel 2008
è stato insignito della medaglia Gustaf Adolf in
oro dall‘Università di Uppsala per i suoi import-
anti successi come leader del coro, creatore di
musica e sviluppatore di tradizioni corali da par-
te.Nel 1993, Robert Sund fu nominato direttore
dell‘anno dalla Föreningen Sveriges Körledare

Robert Sund was for many years artistic direc-
tor and conductor of the mixed choir Allmän-
na Sången and the male choir Orphei Drängar
(OD). He founded and was the leader of both
the women`s choir La Cappella and the youth
choir Uppsala Musikskolas Kammarkör. Sin-
ce 2004 he has also directed the Robert Sund
Chamber Choir.
As singer he was a member of Eric Ericsons
Chamber Choir and the Kvintetten Olsson.
For 17 years he has been teaching conducting
and ensemble leadership at the Royal Academy
of Music in Stockholm. He is in great demand to
lead courses for choral singes and conductors in
lall over the world.
Well known as conductor all over the world,
from the Radio Choirs in Vienna and Stockholm
to the Coro Nacional in Cuba he conducted the
WYC 1994 and 1997. He has been workshop lea-
der at several World Symposia and a guest lectu-
rer and a diligent jury member at choral compe-
titions and festivals worldwide.
In 2003 Robert Sund was awarded an honorary
stipend from the Municipality of Uppsala and
the Peter Cornelius Plaque in Mainz. In 2004 he
received the Kings Medal of the 8th Magnitude
with a bright blue ribbon for valuable service
as director of the male choir Orphei Drängar. In
2008 he was awarded the Gustaf Adolf Medal in
gold from Uppsala University for his important
achievements as a choir leader, music creator
and developer of choir traditions. In 1993, Ro-
bert Sund was named Conductor of the Year by
the Föreningen Sveriges Körledare (Association
of Swedish Choir masters).
