Case Study on Human Resource

This case is about two people working in the same company . Shivani and
Ashish both of them are postgraduates from a reputed management college .
But both of them have different streams . Both the people are good friends
since the college days and both of them are even continuing the friendship as
they are placed in the same organisation within a same company Digimindz
technology solution . Shivani is placed in HR department as a employee
consultant while Ashish is working in finance department as a key finance
executive . As per the grade is concerned both the people are on the same
level in the organisation . But when it comes to the responsibility as Ashish is
working in the core finance so he has more responsibilities than Shivani .
By nature Shivani is very friendly and helpful and is always ready to help the
one in need . Ashish is silent in nature and ready to help but only when if
someone approached him by their own . His nature is quite introvert and
arrogant . They have completed 5 years in the organisation and the company is
very much happy by their consistent performance and hard work .
Shivani felt that nowadays Ashish is not like as he was used to be in the past .
His behaviour has changed towards her . He always keeps on taunting her for
being popular amongst the other employees in the company while nobody
cares for him or doesn’t even know him.
One evening Mr.Narendra the head of Digimindz was shocked to see a mail of
resignation by his employee Ashish . After viewing his mail Mr.Narendra called
Shivani immediately to discuss this issue as she was the only one in office who
was close to ashish . Shivani was also shocked about the resignation mail and
told that she was not aware of it . She also confronted about the behaviour of
ashish since last few days . Mr. Narendra who do not want to loose his best
people told Shivani that he will find a solution to this and won’t let ashish
resign .
Next day Mr. Narendra took Ashish to canteen for lunch and made him
comfortable so that he could have a general discussion regarding the issue .
Ashish was hesitated at first but after that he opened his thinking and
confronted the issues that he was going through . The problem of ashish
were–
1. When he comes to the cafeteria alone , no one bothers about him
and mostly people don’t even recognise him but if he is
accompanied by Shivani everyone treats him well .
2. One day both of them came company together and the guard
wished them but next day when he entered alone the guard did
not wished him .
3. Even in the meeting also the presentation given by Shivani is given
more value so I intent to keep silent only in meetings .

It seems like that such behaviour by his fellow employees is disturbing him so
much that he is not able to concentrate on his work . Ashish also raised a
question that – “ Shivani and I are qualified from the same college with in the
same year with first class . We both came to the company together and have
the same number of experience . Infact my work responsibility is way more
than that of Shivani but still she is given so much value than me . After all these
things I m ignored by the people I am working with . So this does not allow my
ego to work here , so I gave the resignation .

By listening to ashish Mr. Narendra was relieved as he knew it was easy for him
to stop his resignation now . He explained to ashish the reason behind the
partial behaviour of employees .

After listening to him ashish felt sorry and realised his mistake and was ready
to take back his resignation . Also he called Shivani and spoke with her like the
way he used to do it before .

Question

1. What was the reason behind the difference in behaviour of the

employees with Shivani and Ashish?
The reason that the employees were treating Shivani and ashish
both differently was the difference in nature between the two .
As Shivani was very friendly in nature and easily approachable for
help . So it was easier for the people to cope up with her . She was
also always ready to help people . While on the other ashish is
very introvert and does not help if the other one does not come
first for help . He is very egoistic and does not himself involves
with the company members .

2. What did Mr. Narendra explained to Ashish ?

After listening to the reason behind the resignation of ashish ,
Mr.Narendra told ashish about the main problem was with
himself only . His behaviour towards the other people was rude
and introvert that’s why the people were hesitated to mix up with
him . He gave the example of Shivani only that how she was so
friendly and helpful towards the people . Whether it’s the guard at
the gate or people in the office , everybody approached to her for
the problems . She was very familiar with everyone that’s why
everybody valued her so much . So , That was the reason that
people know her and gave value to her so much .

Conclusion
By this case study we can conclude that how a change in
behavioural patterns can matter so much in the organisation . In
this case we can see that both the people were of same level and
of same company but still they were treated differently . If you are
working in an organisation you have to maintain a cordial
relationship with the co-workers . No matter what position you
are holding in an organisation you have to be along in the working
environment .
