Ethernet/IP Scanlist Setup

For Fanuc R-30iB Controller

1. Start a New Ethernet/IP Project


1.1. Open “RSNetworx for Ethernet/IP”
1.2. Select File->New
1.3. When Prompted, Select “Ethernet/IP Configuration” as the Configuration Type and click “OK”

2. Register EDS Files


2.1. Download the required EDS File for each Ethernet/IP Device, including the Fanuc Robot
2.2. In “RSNetworx for Ethernet/IP”, go to Tools->EDS Wizard
2.3. Follow the EDS Wizards instructions for Registering the EDS File

2.4. Repeat for each Ethernet/IP Device


NOTE: Once complete, all devices should be listed in the Hardware pane of RSNetworx

3. Add Ethernet/IP Devices to Project


3.1. In the Hardware Pane of RSNetworx, double click the device to be added to the project

3.2. When prompted, Enter the IP Address of the Device


3.3. Repeat for each Ethernet/IP Device
NOTE: Once complete, all added devices should be listed in the right pane of RSNetworx

4. Create the Robot Controller Ethernet/IP Scanlist


4.1. In the Right Pane of RSNetworx, Right Click on the Robot Icon and select Scanlist Configuration

4.2. In the Scanlist Configuration Window, click Connection->Auto Insert->All Devices

NOTE: This will add all devices to the Scanlist with the default options. The options can be modified by right
clicking the connection and selecting Properties

5. (Optional) Adjust the Process Data Size for the IO-Link Master
5.1. In the Scanlist Configuration Window, Right Click on the IO-Link Master Connection and select Properties

5.2. In the Properties window, navigate to the Configuration Settings tab

5.3. The Process Port Data Size parameter can be lowered to reduce the total amount of Ethernet/IP data occupied
by the IO-Link data. NOTE: The default process data size is 32bytes per port (per IO-Link specification)
however most devices do not use the entire 32bytes.
5.4. If the Port Process Data Size is modified, the Input and Output Size entries on the Connection tab will need to
be changed to match. NOTE: The “(In xxx / Out xxx)” listed in the Port Process Data Size Parameter is provided
in bytes and need to be converted to words for the Input and Output Size Entries.

Although the Data in the EIP stream is shifted as expected by the change in Process Data Size, the RSNetworx
Software will not allow a scanlist with 2 AL1222 units to be loaded due to the following error:

6. Download Scanlist to Robot Controller


6.1. Perform a Controlled Start on the Robot Controller
6.2. Connect the PC to the Ethernet/IP Network and ensure the PC has a compatible IP Address
NOTE: It is highly recommended to have all the devices connected and powered on before continuing.
6.3. In the Right pane of RSNetworx, right click on the Robot icon and select “Download to Device”
6.4. After communication is established, a window will pop up to confirm the download.
6.5. Once the download is complete, Restart the Robot Controller
6.6. Once the Robot Controller reboots the Ethernet/IP devices should be available to assign to Digital and Group
