3. Add the .EDS file to Unity PRO by navigation to tools  DTM navigator

4. Follow the prompts to add the .EDS

2. Right click on the « Ethernet » in the DTM navigator and choose « Ajouter »

3. Choose « IO-Link master SL EIP 4P IP67 », select the found module


and Click « Ajouter DTM »

3. Provide an unique name for the ethernet module and select « Manuel »
in « gestion des Items »

4. Provide an unique IP address for the ethernet module

5. By default « Exclusive owner IO-Link I/O – Acyc - Diag » is selected

6. You can choose another connection by deleting the default one

- Exclusive owner IO-Link

7. Change the size type to INT in « items »

7. Click on « Appliquer » to complete the module setup

Configure IO Link ports

The installation of the EDS file results in the « paramètres de configuration » being
propulated with option for configuring the AL1x2x. The configuration setting can found
under the « navigateur de DTM ».

Configure each port’s function. By default all ports are designated to be IO Link port.

in the « IO Link_Master_SL_EIP_4 »

2. Verify the communication to the IO Link module with the « freshness » bit

DFB instructions

1. Connect an IO link Device to the IO Link configured port

2. Getting the process Input Data is possible by Three methods


a. Generic input Process DFB ( usable for any Devices )
b. Ifm specific input Process DFB ( usable for ifm Devices )
c. View raw data in the input « variable de DDT d’équipement »

3. Open folder 3 in the AL1x2x complete startup package to find the DFB instructions.

Specific DFB instructions

1. Connect an IO link Device to the IO Link configured port

2. Open folder 3 in the AL1x2x complete startup package to find the DFB instructions.

3. Import the DFB : « OGD_4PORT_IOL »

2. Import the ifm specific DFB


3. Select the appropriate 4 Port or 8 port ifm specific DFB
4. Click and drag the DFB Instruction onto a rung of logic
5. Enter an unique name to the DFB
6. Create a new tag
7. Fill the PLC_Input with the Input data of the
AL1x2x Ethernet Module
8. Enter the Port’s Process Data Size from the Controller Tags
9. Enter the Port Number
10. Enter the type of connection
11. View the Pre-interpreted real process data
