To Christ And The Great Controversy
’Not by might, nor by power but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts’ Zech: 4:6 was our word of
strength and encouragement that took us to the Hamilton Beach for the Mini Convention of the
MMMSL. It was a long day after our Health Expo collaborating with the Ministry of Health in
commemorating the No Tobacco day on the 27th June 2019. The day which seems tiring was
awaken by the Holy Spirit as we travelled to the Hamilton Beach on the 27 th June 2019. We want
to thank our Almighty God for endowing us with his power, strength and understanding to go
through our 4 days Mini Convention.

Day 1

We arrived a little bit late behind our scheduled time because of our previous engagement, but
God took us to the Hamilton Beach safely at approximately 5:45pm. Individuals were allowed to
settle down and the registration for attendees was done by our Sisters Rosa Johnson and Arieola
Moiba. A total of 25 attendees were presented on day 1 and other members joined in the next
day making the total number of 30 attendees for the 4 days Convention. The program for the
evening started at 7:15 with our Consultant Sis Edna explaining the housekeeping rules.

Medical Missionaries at work

Devotion by Mrs Cecilia Abdul Shereef using one

of our textbooks The Ministry of Healing Chapter
1. “Our Example” was the topic. In her devotion
she quoted from that “Jesus devoted more time to
healing the sick than to preaching. His miracles
testified to the truth of His words, that He came
not to destroy, but to save” these were
encouraging words to everyone present and that
Jesus Christ must be our example as Medical Missionaries.

Our main aim for the Mini Convention was to bring to

understanding all about Medical Missionary Work. Our Consultant
Dr. Don Kelly was given the opportunity to explain the Concept of
MMM from God’s healing Way Part 2. Explaining the concept Dr.
Don emphasized that Medical Missionary work is not about buying
and selling, charcoal or turmeric, but the proclamation of the gospel
of Jesus Christ and the saving of souls for God’s
kingdom. He explained that Ellen G. White who is one
of our pioneers was inspired by God to show us how
God intended his work to be done through the MMM.
He said God used EGW to write so many books on
health for the benefit of humanity. He stressed the
point that MMM is of heavenly origin and the people
are unique. He mentioned Jesus Christ as our first and
supreme Medical Missionary who during his work on
earth heal so many people of their ailments, and he is our example. MMM as he mentioned is
sacred and did not originate from human who live on earth, but it was God’s devise to help in the
suffering of human being.

It was the end of Day 1 with announcements and Closing prayer by Sis Rosa Johnson.

Day 2

The day started at 5:00am with individual

having their quiet time with God. This
individual prayer session which ended at 5:30
saw all residents coming out from their
various rooms for our first exercise for the day.
This exercise session was led by Bro. Jude
Livinus.

The requirements for the presentation of the 8 Maranatha Health Club

Laws by the different Church Club was part for
our second day. Presentations started when Northeast led by Bro. Daniel Conteh took us through
Chapter 3 of the Ministry of Healing about “With Nature and God”. He carefully explained that
Jesus’ life on earth was a life of communion with nature and with God. In his communion God
revealed the secret of a life of power. He compared the Hamilton beach to what Jesus loved to
do by removing himself to a quiet place to talk to his father. He bid us to do the same as Jesus
said in Mark 6:31 that “Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest awhile.
After breakfast and the next presenter was Sis Mariama
Moiba on behalf of their Club from The Three Angels
Messages’ Church. Talking about Water which is one of
our eight laws of health was very vital and she
emphasized that we can go a long way without food but
not with water. She mentioned that our bodies are
made of 70% water therefore we ought to hydrate our
bodies by drinking 8-10 glasses every day for the proper
functioning of the body. It was interesting to know that
our body process 40,000 of water everyday through the
kidney as was explained by Dr. Don Kelly.

Makeni Health Club The East End Church Club did

their presentation on Sunshine.
The importance of having sunlight was emphasized as it improves the
circulation of the blood and helps regulate blood pressure and increases
the number of white blood cells in our bodies.

Three Angels’ Church Health Club

Temperance was presented by

Sis. Theresa of Christ The King
Church Club. Giving us the
meaning of temperance that
“abstaining from harmful habit
and minimizing things that are
good” she explained that
moderation should be exercised
in all our daily habits especially in
diet, work, sleep and dress.

Christ The King Health Club

For each presentation there was question/answer
and quiz. Lunch was served after all the
presentations.

Because of the heavy outpouring of rain we could not

finish all the presentations on Rest, Nutrition and
Trust in God. As the Sabbath was drawing nigh
individuals were asked to retire and prepare for the
East End Church Health Club Sabbath.

Day 3

It was the sabbath day and individual had their quiet time with God at 5-5:30. The Sabbath started
with Good News Church Club giving the devotion by Sis Lizzy and
Elizabeth. The title of their devotion was taken from Ministry of
Healing chapter 5 “Healing of the Soul”. From the devotion
presented it was interesting to know that Jesus who is our
supreme Medical Missionary used different methods to heal the
souls of people. They mentioned the woman who was caught in
adultery, she did not have a physical aliment but was very sick in
heart and longed for healing. Jesus did not condemn her but
rebuked the Pharisees and scribes who taught that the woman was
an outcast. They mentioned other people that Jesus healed of
their aliments.

After breakfast our song service for Sabbath School started at

9:00am. Our Consultant Sis Edna gave us bible study on how to
present the Gospel message. Several text from the Bible were
mentioned and we were blessed by her presentation.

Good News Health Club The Divine service started at 11:00am. The sermon was given by Dr.
Don Kelly on the topic ‘The Fall of Man and Suffering”. The sermon
was in a form of teaching which gave us a deep understanding of how man who God has created
in his image had fallen which has caused our suffering. The Divine Service ended at 1:45pm. We
were supposed to have gone to the community for evangelism but because of the heavy
outpouring of rain, we could not make it. That gave us the opportunity to adjust our program
from having a presentation on natural remedies by Dr. Don Kelly to the continuation of “The Fall
of Man and Suffering”.
For our vesper worship Jude Livinus from Light House Beam took us through the story of Uzzah
and how God was not pleased with his kindness of helping the ark. It was the end of the day 3.

Day 4

It was our final day to finish up with our program. Because we could
not finish all the topics for the previous days, we had the
opportunity of listening to the other church clubs for their
presentation of the 8 laws of health. Light House Beam had their
presentation on Rest led by Bro. Sheku Musa. In his presentation he
explained the importance of Rest which the body needs in order to
function physically and mentally. He quoted John14:27 “Peace I
leave with you, My peace I give you unto you not as the world
giveth, give Into you” referring to the
spiritual rest which everybody needs.
Abundant Life Church Club led by Bro.
Greater Love Health Club
Abdul Yateh took us through our 8th
law of health “Trust In Divine Power”
in his presentation he emphasized the importance of trusting God
in all our doings. He quoted from the book of EGW, My Life
Today page 149 that “In order to have perfect health, our hearts
must be filled with love and hope
and joy in the Lord. To get
connection with the Divine power we
Wellington/Calaba need to obey heaven’s laws through
Town Health Club physical, mental and spiritual health.
Wellington/Calaba Town church club
presented on Air. Bro. Henry Sankoh who did the presentation
explained to us the importance of having fresh air, and the impact
of not having our houses well ventilated. Bro John Kanu who
represented the Maranatha Church club gave his presentation on
Nutrition taking us through the importance of eating well and how
it impact our spiritual life.

Lighthouse Beam Health Club

Our financial report was given by our Treasurer. She stressed on the importance of paying our
monthly dues from the different church club on time as this will enable the MMMSL to function
well.
The constitution and Bylaws that binds us together was distributed by Sis Edna Thomas to the
different church clubs. The draft constitution was read for all to understand and it was
unanimously voted for. The climax of our retreat saw us recommitting ourselves with a
commitment service by Dr. Don Kelly. The commitment form was signed by each member
present.

To God be the glory the retreat was a success. With all our things all packed up we departed in
unison in a bus to our different homes.
