(LET US STOP SMOKING TOBACCO AND DRINKING ALCOHOL)

This event that was centered
on the education about the
harmful effects of drugs was
held at the Bishop Crowther
memorial hall, on the 30th
December 2020. It was held
in a very conducive
atmosphere. People came
from every corner in the
community to learn. The
targeted population was
youths. The community in
which the programme was
held had seen a rise in use of
Alcohol, Marijuana,
Cigarette and all sorts of
drugs. So, the youth who
were gradually being
destroyed were the focus.
There were about one
hundred and fifty (150)
people, both youths and
elderly who attended the
programme.
PURPOSE
The main reason for this
gathering/event was to
reach out to the youths and
even the old, whose lives
were gradually suffering from
the ripple effects of Drugs
and Alcohol abuse. It aims at
educating the people
about the dangers of
keeping themselves
exposed to such drugs. It
also focuses on the dangers
of being a secondary
participator.
GOAL
The actual intention is to
give the education to
people and not only create
awareness among them but
to also help them quit these
addictions. The central idea
was about creating change
in the lives of the people,
especially the youths, thus
reducing death rates,
illnesses and crimes.
STAKEHOLDERS PRESENT
This beautiful programme
held at the Bishop Crowther
hall was graced by great and
mighty men of honour. Men
of higher caliber in society.
Gracing this occasion was
the Councilor of the Cline
town community, Councillor
Hoodie Munu, Our noble
chief Ya' Alimamy Thoronka
and other community
representatives.
The programme started at
2:00 pm. It started with
prayers from the Imam in the
community, Mr. Fidel kamara
and a Christian prayer was
said by Mr. Anthony Roberts,
a Lay Reader. Furthermore,
there were statements from
MMMSL and PEC as to assert
the essence of the
programme. After several
introduction of dignitaries, the
presentation rolled on. The
first presentation was done by
Mr Samuel Sawyerr who
talked on the dangers of
Alcohol on the human body,
the community and the world
at large. Second to him was
Mr Andrew Chokpeleh who talked on the
dangers of Smoking and its ripple effects on Name of 21 of those who want
the blood, lungs and the atmosphere. Third to stop the act of taking drugs
was Mr Fredrick Schelenker, who talked on
the effects of cola and Caffeine. Last, was Names Numbers
