PARISH PASTORAL COORDINATOR


JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Parish Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the general parish program and assisting the parish priests,
the various ministries and groups of volunteers to drive the spiritual and social development of the parishioners. It
is a critical role of the parish in its implementation of the parish vision, mission and values.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Liaise with parish priests, leaders of the Neighbourhood Christian Communities (NCC), ministry leaders of
the Church and external agencies on the development and sustaining the Church’s NCCs
• Keep updated on the theology of the Church and the role of the NCCs and other Parish initiatives
• Work with the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), the PPC Exco and the ministries to strengthen the
parishioners’ spirituality
• Provide regular reports to the Parish Assembly (PA), Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)
• Plan, coordinate and support formation programs in the church and execution of activities in/by the parish
groups
• Establish and enhance communication, including maintenance of the Parish website, and production of the
Parish bulletin/newsletters to communicate the spirituality, formation program, events and activities,
testimonies and services of the Parish especially those of NCCs
• Maintain proper records of NCCs, including data base and other information dealing with pastoral work with
them
• Obtain information to assess spiritual and pastoral needs of the Parish
• Raise staff awareness of the role and function of volunteers and ensure appropriate support and training to
staff and volunteers
• Recruit volunteers and ensure they are appropriately matched and trained for the position/tasks
• Offer advice and information to volunteers and external organisation through face-to-face, phone and e-
mail contact
• Establish office hours, when the Coordinator will be available to parishioners and staff
• Any other duties assigned by the Parish Priest

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION


Educational Qualification and Knowledge
• Diploma/degree in Arts/Social Studies or a similar relevant background
• Experience in MS Office such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Working Experience
• At least 5 years relevant working experience such as office management or program coordinator
• Good organising skills and ability to maintain systematic and efficient record keeping/filing
• Good communication skills and able to interact effectively with people at all levels
• Good interpersonal, team-building and networking skills
• Report-writing skills and ability to interpret and present data

Other Attributes
• Ability to empathise with people’s life experiences
• Ability to cope with inevitable conflict and setbacks, hence patience and perseverance are essential
• Good sense of identification, commitment, tact, diplomacy and discretion
• Sound knowledge and understanding of parish pastoral and social issues
• Active member of the Catholic Church

EMPLOYMENT CONDITION

• Reporting to Parish Priest


• Flexibility to work in the evenings (i.e. attend meetings) and selected weekend commitments (i.e. parish
programs and events)
