Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the
instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and
vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a


composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that
was frustrating.
- The main reason why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was so difficult. I tried to understand my English teacher but I couldn’t. It was
so hard.

- One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was unnecessary. I thought it wasn’t helpful in my life but now I know how
important is learning English for everything.

- I did not study English before because in my city, English lessons are very
expensive. I didn’t have the money for study it.

- I did not study English before because I’ve been study my career. In the last
time, I didn’t have time for dedicate me to study it.

- Finally, I did not study English before because when I finished my studies, I
started to work immediately, so when I arrived at my house I was so tired and
I just wanted to rest.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and
explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.
- If I had learned English before, I would have spoken English like an American
native. I would have fluency to speak and listen it.

- If I had learned English before, I would have traveled around the world even if
I could not speak the local language. Many people around the world speak
English.

- If I had learned English before, I would have accepted a job that a


multinational company offered me few years ago. My interview was a native
English speaker and I couldn’t talk him in English to demonstrate them my
skills.

- If I had learned English before, I would have discovered that English is easy to
learn. I thought that learning English or another language were very difficult.

- If I had learned English before, I would have watched cartoons, movies and
films in English on Netflix or YouTube. I always watched movies translated or
with subtitles.

B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

Example:

I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my


professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:

Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a more


satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and English
is the most important language.
