1. Develop the dynamic model for stirred tanks heating process for variable hold up
2. SOLVE:
3. Two liquid surge tanks (Tank 1 and Tank 2) are placed in series so that the outflow
from the first tank is the inflow to the second tank. These two tanks have different cross
sectional areas denoted as A1 and A2 and the valve resistance are fixed at R1 and R2.
The outlet flow rate from each tank is linearly related to the height of the liquid in the
tank. Illustrate the schematic diagram for this system and develop the dynamic model
for both tank (Tank 1 and Tank 2). Derive the transfer function of H’1(s) /Q’i(s), Q’1(s)/
H’1(s), H’2(s)/Q’1(s) and Q’2(s)/H’2(s).
4. Consider the following transfer function, subject to unit step (∆ u=1) input change
(assume time in minutes). G (s) = 25
5s2 +10s+8
6. An engineer was designed a temperature control loop and desired the loop to have a
1/6 decay ratio and the process gain is 1. To test the loop, operators were provided a
disturbance to the system instantaneously changing flow stream and be observed that
the period of oscillation was 10 minutes. Determine second order transfer function for
the process and the time that maximum temperature occurred.
