‘Nebraska Treasure’ museum event is Dec. 3
Pack 97 Cub Scouts and families can attend
the Cornhusker Council’s “Nebraska Treasure”
museum event, celebrating the 100th anniver-
sary of scouting. The event is 6 to 10 p.m., Dec.
3 at the Lincoln Children’s Museum and the
Nebraska State Historical Museum.
Participants will go on a quest through the
two museums, working to decode a “first edi-
tion” Cub Scout handbook. Scouts will look
for clues, make crafts, and earn electives/
achievements towards a number of awards.

The completion of the four levels of clues will
lead scouts to the final treasure.
Projects are geared to all levels of scouts.
Cost is $20 for scouts through Nov. 21.
Late registration, Nov. 22 to Dec. 1, is $25 per
scout. Registration at the event (which may be
limited) is $35 per scout. Siblings can regis-
ter at the same rate as scouts; children ages 4
and under are free. The cost for parents is $5
through Dec. 1 or $10 at the door. Registration
includes pizza and participation in all activi-
ties.
The first 250 scouts to register will receive a
special event patch.

Pack holiday
celebration
is Dec. 16
Pack 97 will celebrate Christ-
mas and the holidays at the next
pack meeting, 7 p.m., Dec. 16 at
Arnold Elementary School.
The celebration will include
a visit from Santa and Sandra
Claus, distribution of popcorn
sale awards (for scouts who have
turned in all money from the
sales), a cookie exchange and
other seasonal activities.
Families that wish to partici-
pate in the cookie exchange must
bring a plate/container with at
least one dozen cookies. The

Cornhusker Council plans another ‘Save Our Soldiers’ event for early 2011
On Nov. 6, the Cornhusker
Council’s 11th annual Support

The Pack 97 Tigers visited the Na-
tional Guard base in October. The
scouts are discussing conservation
and collecting this month. They com-
pleted leaf rubbings and shared collec-
tions from home on Nov. 15. The work
will culminate in a visit to a museum.
On Dec. 6, the Tigers will learn about
medieval armor and combat from
members of the Nebraska Sword Fight
Guild.
Webelos II

The Pack 97 Webelos 2 are working
with the Webelos 1 scouts to complete
requirements toward the artist pin.
The Webelos 2 plan to begin work on
the craftsman pin in December. Also,
on the weekend of Dec. 3, the scouts
will attend an overnight camping event
with Boy Scouts from Troop 13. The
badges and camping help complete re-
quirements toward earning the Arrow
of Light.
