1. SCOPE
This specification covers the design, material, fabrication, inspection and testing of Sea Water Lift
Pump, complete with start-up, one (1) year spare parts, field technician and vendor data be used in
Production Barge (Ingenium II) Cambodia (Apsara) Block “A” Field Development.

1.1 General
It shall be supplement by and shall be read in conjunction with the Codes and Standards necessary
to meet applicable Government and other Regulatory & Statutory requirements as stated in this
document.

Terms stated in this report are defined as follows,

2. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The purpose of this specification and referenced codes, standards, general specifications and project
documents is to establish a minimum level of acceptable quality. Alternate standard designs of equal
or superior quality may be proposed; provided all exceptions are listed and written approval for all
exceptions is obtained from Company.
In the case of conflict between other documents, Vendor shall submit the discrepancy to Company
for final resolution. In his Bid Document, Vendor shall provide for the more stringent requirement
unless otherwise instructed in writing by the Company.
Equipment specified by this specification shall be complete in all detail and ready for installation.
Equipment supplied shall be of a standard model or series in regular production at the manufacture's
facilities.
The equipment shall be designed for continuous use in an exposed, tropical, offshore, salt laden,
corrosive atmosphere with minimum/maximum 22C/34C ambient temperatures and 100% relative
humidity.

3. SCOPE OF SUPPLY
Centrifugal Pumps (ANSI) shall include the following listed major components which shall be
assembled and fully shop tested prior to shipment from the Vendor facilities:
 One (1) centrifugal pump (ANSI)
 One (1) electric motor
 One (1) motor/pump coupling
 One (1) coupling guard
 One (1) structural skid
 One (1) mechanical seal and seal system

4. DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
4.1 General
4.1.1 Pumps shall have robust casings, shafts and baseplate such that seal and bearing life meets the
requirements of at least 3 years uninterrupted operation.
4.1.2 All centrifugal pumps shall be the Vendor’s standard design amended in accordance with the
additional requirements called for by this Specification.
4.1.3 Preference will be given to pumps running close to the best efficiency point at the design conditions.
4.1.4 Pumps shall be designed to minimize wear of components in contact with the fluid and to resist the
chemical environment described on the Data Sheets.
4.1.5 All pumps shall be self-venting without the need for external bleed valves.
4.1.6 The pumps shall not be selected to operate at the fastest speed of the pump impeller range, not shall
the smallest or largest impeller diameters be used.
4.1.7 All pump casings and their components shall be furnished with corrosion resistant bolts, nuts and
washers.
4.1.8 Pumps shall be suitable for uncovered outdoors installation under the specified ambient conditions.
4.1.9 Materials shall conform to appropriate standards for chemical analysis and mechanical properties.
4.1.10 All exposed moving parts shall be fitted with appropriately painted guards to prevent contact, by
accident or intent, of personnel with the moving parts. The seal space shall be covered to prevent
accidental splashing of harmful fluids in the event of seal failure.
4.1.11 All safety guards shall be fully removable during maintenance activities.
4.1.12 Electrical components and installation shall be suitable for the area classification and grouping
specified in the Data Sheets.

4.2 Design
4.2.1 The impeller diameter selected to meet the specified duty point shall be no more than 90% of the
maximum impeller size of the pump. Where this requirement is deemed impractical, full details shall
be provided in the proposal and Purchaser approval obtained prior to award purchase order.
4.2.2 The pump shaft shall be machined all over with fine finish ground surfaces and large radius fillets.
Shaft deflection shall not exceed the more stringent of either 0.05 mm at the shaft seal or the seal
manufacturer’s requirement. Locking of impeller to shaft shall tighten with normal pump rotation.
4.2.3 A renewable shaft sleeve shall be provided. The sleeve shall be positively fastened to the shaft with
expansion provision to cater for any temperature variations.
4.2.4 Ball or roller type anti-friction bearings shall be provided. These shall have a L10 service life of not
less than 50,000 hours.
4.2.5 Bearings shall be sealed against entry of foreign matter or moisture, but with provision for lubrication.
Rolling element bearings shall not have plastic cages. Bearing temperatures shall not exceed the
bearing manufacturer’s requirements.
4.2.6 The end-suction nozzle shall be on the pump centreline. The discharge nozzle shall be designed to
be self venting.
4.2.7 Flanged connections rated for the operating conditions and conforming to ASME B16.5 shall be
provided for all process connections. Otherwise, an adaptor piece or mating flange shall be provided
to suit the connecting piping.
4.2.8 External forces and moments on the pump flanges shall comply with ISO 5199 – Class II, Annex C,
unless a specific exception is notified in writing prior to order.

4.2.9 Internal and external threads shall conform to ASME B2.1 tapered threads. Drain and vent
connections shall be at least 15 mm (1/2 inch) nominal size.

4.3 Mechanical Shaft Seals


4.3.1 The selection of the seal shall be compatible with the rigidity of the assembly, the flexibility of the
shaft and the temperature, pressure and composition of duty fluid.
4.3.2 Unless otherwise specified, all standard mechanical seals shall be a cartridge design. The seal
cartridge shall be removable without disturbing the driver.
4.3.3 When the barrier fluid requires cooling, an air cooled finned tube cooler is to be used.
4.3.4 The standard un-pressurized dual mechanical seal shall be a balanced seal.
4.3.5 Mechanical seal sleeves shall meet the following criteria:
 Be of wear, corrosion and erosion resistant material.
 Be sealed at one end.
 Extend beyond the outer face of the seal gland.
 The shaft sleeve shall have at least two “O” rings to seal against the shaft to prevent dust ingress
and fluid escape.
 The seal shall be fitted with a pumping ring to assist in circulating the barrier fluid.
4.3.6 Unless otherwise specified, seal chambers and seal glands shall be designed for the same pressure
and temperature as the pump casing and shall have sufficient rigidity to avoid distortion that may
occur during tightening of the bolts to set gasket.
4.3.7 Where applicable, a shoulder at least 3mm (0.125 inch) wide shall be provided in the seal gland to
prevent the stationary element of the mechanical seal from dislodging as a result of chamber
pressure.
4.3.8 Specified seal and pump connections shall be identified by symbols permanently marked into the
components (such as stamped, cast, or chemically etched) and shown on the seal drawing.
4.3.9 Mechanical seals and glands for all pumps shall be installed in the pump before shipment and shall
be clean and ready for initial service. On pumps whose seals require final adjustment or installation
in the field, the Vendor shall attach a tag warning of this requirement.
4.3.10 The seal gland plates shall have a throttle bushing 3mm (0.125 inch) thickness to restrict the flow to
atmosphere in the event of seal failure. The throttle bushing shall be of non-sparking material, and
shall be shouldered to prevent blowout. Seal glands plates shall be provided with quench and drain
connections 12.5 mm (1/2 inch) diameter NPT minimum.
4.3.11 Special tools and accessories required for mechanical seal servicing shall be supplied by the Vendor.
4.3.12 The Vendor shall nominate a seal liquid system and the Purchaser shall confirm the system
suitability for the given application.
4.3.13 Seal fluid inlet and outlet connections shall be located in the seal cartridge housing, with the outlet
connection above the upper seal face for proper venting of seal cavity air.
4.3.14 Unless otherwise noted, “O” rings shall be used to seal the shaft sleeve to the shaft. The “O” rings
shall be located so as to minimise the effects of heat from the duty fluid.
4.3.15 “O” ring material compatible with the fluid is to be used.
4.3.16 Seal springs shall not be in the pumped fluid.

4.4 Baseplate
4.4.1 The pump, driver and electric motor shall be mounted on a rigid baseplate suitable for full grout
support.
4.4.2 A pan under the pump shall drain leakage to a 1 inch diameter NPT connection at the pump end of
the baseplate, as well as a 1 inch drip rim around the skid.
4.4.3 Jacking bolts shall be provided for all motors 45 kW and greater, to enable axial and transverse
positioning. Stainless steel shims shall be provided for height adjustment.
4.4.4 Lifting lugs shall be provided on the baseplate.

4.5 Lubrication
4.5.1 Pump bearings shall preferably be lubricated by a rotary flinger picking up oil from below bearing
level. A sight glass and fill cap shall be provided. Oil lubricated components shall be sealed to
prevent both leakage of oil and entry of fumes and dust. Lip seals are not preferred and the option of
rotating labyrinth or magnetic seals shall be provided. Where a breather is fitted, it shall be designed
to prevent spray water ingress.
4.5.2 The Vendor shall lubricate all components requiring lubrication prior to testing and delivery.

4.6 Electric Motors and Drives


4.6.1 Drivers shall be foot mounted.
4.6.2 The Vendor shall supply a flexible coupling, selected to suit the power output of the motor and able to
transmit the design starting torque with a service factor of 1.2, in accordance with the coupling
manufacturer’s recommendations.
4.6.3 Couplings shall be manufactured from materials such that the coupling is classified as non-sparking.
4.6.4 Drivers shall have a continuous rating at least equal to the most stringent of :
 The highest power requirement along the pump characteristic is curve containing the specified
operating conditions.
 20% above the power required for the specified operating conditions for pumps up to and
including 11 kW installed power, and 10% for pumps above 11 kW installed power.
 For calculating the power usage is on water at the design flow.

4.7 Performance
4.7.1 Selection of pumps shall be in accordance with the specified Data Sheets. All flow and pressure
conditions influencing reliability shall be nominated by the Vendor in the Tender submission. This
shall include the conditions to avoid suction recirculation and cavitation, the minimum flow conditions
and any specific installation requirements (e.g. piping and valving).
4.7.2 Standard NPSHR data provided by the Vendor shall be presumed to be for 3% head drop and this
shall be at least 1.0 m less than the available NPSH at the maximum specified flow at the highest
specified temperature.
4.7.3 Balancing of pump rotating parts shall be in accordance with grade G2.5 of ISO 1940. Vibration of
the bearing housing at design conditions shall not exceed 2.8 mm/s r.m.s. at 1800 rpm and 4.5 mm/s
r.m.s. at 3600 rpm.
4.7.4 The pump and drive components shall be selected so that the pump cannot be run at a speed more
than 80% of the first critical speed of the pump rotating assembly.
4.7.5 To improve reliability, the value of L3/D4 shall not exceed 2mm -1, where L is the length from the
bearing centre to the impeller centreline, and D is the solid shaft diameter (under sleeve) at the seal.

4.8 Noise
4.8.1 Combined pump and driver noise at all operating conditions shall not exceed a sound pressure level
of 80 dB(A) at 1 m from the surface of the equipment.
4.8.2 When equipment has a noise level expectation above this, attenuation devices including shields or
enclosures shall be offered as an option. Low noise fans shall be fitted to motors if the standard fans
do not meet the noise specification.
4.8.3 An acoustic enclosure, where required, shall be suitable for outdoor installation in the specified
environmental condition.
4.8.4 The Vendor shall provide all additional ancillary equipment necessary to ensure the efficient
operation of the pump within the enclosure under the specified environmental conditions. These may
include ventilation fan, temperature gauges and instrumentation as recommended by the Vendor.
4.8.5 The enclosure shall incorporate a sufficient number of hinged or readily removable access panels to
provide convenient access for inspection and maintenance.
4.8.6 The enclosure shall also be designed so that it can be readily removed. Lifting lugs shall be provided
for this purpose.
4.8.7 All grease lubrication points shall be extended to externally mounted grease nipples and all pressure
and temperature gauges shall be mounted external to the enclosure. Hearing protection warning
signs shall be provided and attached to the enclosure in a prominent position

5. MATERIAL
Materials shall be new, free from defects and in accordance with the following:
 Pump casing, impeller, wear ring, and mechanical seal parts shall be in accordance with
applicable Centrifugal Pumps (ANSI) Data Sheet.
 Seal flush lines shall be 316 stainless steel tubing and tubing fittings.
 All wetted pump parts must be inert to the process fluids. No corrosion/erosion products are
permitted to enter the product stream. Materials offered by the Vendor to perform the stated duty
shall be clearly defined in the proposal.
 Pump materials must have a proven history in process duties similar to those specified in the Data
Sheet.
 Viton elastomer shall not be used. AFLAS is considered an acceptable alternative.
 Asbestos materials shall not be used.
 Exposed aluminium and copper-alloyed materials shall not be used.
 Galling material combinations shall not be used.
 Cast Iron pump casings are not permitted for applications involving flammable or combustible
fluids

6. PROTECTIVE COATING
Surface preparation and coating of all exposed metal parts shall be in accordance with IPB-OCS-
KEA-PIP-SPE-0006 Specification for Painting & Coating. Insulation is required only when specified or
indicated on data sheets or outline drawings.

7. SPARE PARTS AND TOOLS


7.1 Installation Spares
The Vendor shall include as part of his bid a detailed, price list of installation spares which shall be
supplied as part of the original purchase package.

7.2 Commissioning Spares


The Vendor shall include as part of his bid a detailed, price list of spare parts for commissioning.
These spares shall be supplied as part of the original purchase package.

7.3 Two Year Spares


The Vendor shall include as part of his bid a detailed list of recommended spare parts for two years
continuous operation. These spares shall be costed for separate purchase by Company.

7.4 Tools
The Vendor shall supply one full set of special tools required for the complete disassembly and
reassembly of all items of equipment supplied as part of the unit. Each tool shall be clearly labelled
and identified in the Special Tools List specified in the Data Requirement Sheet.

8. INSPECTION AND TESING


8.1 General
8.1.1 Inspection and testing shall be carried out on all equipment at the applicable manufacturer's works
and shall be witnessed by the Company’s representatives and/or the Certifying Authority.
8.1.2 The Vendor shall be responsible for inspection and testing of the unit.
8.1.3 Following assembly, the unit shall be inspected for completeness, quality of construction, and
appearance.
8.1.4 The testing program shall include, but not be limited to, hydrostatic testing of pump case,
performance test and clearance measurements in accordance with Hydraulic Institute Standards.
8.1.5 The motor supplied with the unit shall be used for testing.
8.1.6 The Vendor shall notify COMPANY of all inspections and tests at least fourteen (14) days prior to
scheduled factory inspection/test dates such that COMPANY may witness said inspection/test.
8.1.7 The Vendor shall submit to COMPANY reports of all inspections and tests within two (2) weeks
following test completion.
8.1.8 COMPANY shall have free and immediate access to Vendor's facilities to inspect all work pertaining
to COMPANY equipment in all stages of manufacture.
8.1.9 Access shall be provided during normal working hours for the purposes of inspection for the
witnessing of tests as specified in the data sheets.
8.1.10 Each pump casing shall be hydrostatically tested to a minimum of 1.5 times the maximum design
pressure, the duration of the test being not less than 30 minutes
8.1.11 Repairs to defective castings and forgings shall not be made without the specific agreement of the
Purchaser’s Inspector.
8.1.12 Performance testing (including NPSH testing), as required by the relevant data sheet, shall be in
accordance with ISO 9906 Rotodynamic Pumps – Hydraulics performance acceptance tests –
Grades 1 and 2. Purchaser approval shall be obtained in situations whereby the pump vendor wants
to deviate from this requirement.

8.2 Reports and Acceptance Certificates


The Vendor shall prepare a report on the tests and the results, which shall be included in the 'Data

9. EQUIPMENT/MATERIAL IDENTIFICATION
9.1 Identification for main unit
Each major equipment component shall have a permanently attached, impression stamped, 316
stainless steel name plate. The nameplate shall include the following information:
9.1.1 Pump
 Manufacturer
 Equipment Tag Number
 Model and Type
 Serial Number
 Date of Manufacture
 Purchase Order Number
 Rated capacity, horsepower, pressure, temperature

9.2 Identification for spare parts and tools


Spare parts and special tools shall be clearly identified, either stamped or tagged, with the
Manufacturer's part numbers as referenced on the parts and special tools lists per the Data
Requirement Sheet.

10. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT


Preparation for shipment shall include the following:
 All flanged openings shall be protected with metal blank flanges with neoprene gaskets and shall
be secured with a minimum of 4 bolts with washers.
 All stud bolts used for nozzle flanges shall be fluorocarbon coated.
Vendor shall be responsible for providing all necessary bracing, for example, supports and saddles to
protect vessels from damage during loading, shipment and unloading.
Vendor shall be responsible for the loading and securing of the equipment ready for shipment from
his yard.

Equipment shall be prepared for export shipment and shall be created to provide maximum
protection during shipment and extended outdoor storage. Following shop testing, the pumps shall
be drained, evacuated, dehumidified and sealed. Any items which are liable to be damaged during
shipment shall be removed, packed separately and shipped with the unit.

Tools and spare parts shall be packed in metal boxes suitable for long term storage. The boxes shall
be galvanized or coated in accordance with IPB-OCS-KEA-PIP-SPE-0006 Specification for Painting
& Coating.

11. GUARANTEE
Material and/or equipment shall be guaranteed by Vendor to perform in accordance with specification
requirements and to be free of defects and poor workmanship including, but not limited to, those
caused by inadequate preparation for shipment, as ruled by associated RFQ, for a period of one (1)
year after material/ equipment is placed in service, but not exceeding eighteen (18) months following
delivery to the contracted destination. Vendor shall repair or replace all defective items during the
guarantee period at no cost to Company
