ALEX wakes up and makes their way out of bed. They start by
eating a bowl of cereal for breakfast (still in pyjamas) then
they brush their teeth and finally gets dressed (off camera).
Next ALEX gets ready to go out for the day by packing a bag,
writes a shopping list and getting their shoes on before leaving
the house to go to the shop.

2. EXT. OUTSIDE - MORNING

While outside ALEX receives a phone call from a relative from

Europe who can’t talk English so Alex has to speak in their
language attracting some disgruntled looks from people they walk
by.

ALEX
Hello how are you today?... oh, really
that’s bad… what do you mean? are you sure?

PASSER BY 1
We don’t like your kind around here

PASSER BY 2
Fucking foreigners

ALEX ignores the comments and hangs up the phone as they

continue to walk.

3. EXT.– DAY

ALEX heads to meet with some friends.

FRIEND 1
Yo

FRIEND 2
Hey how you been?

ALEX
I’m alright but I’m really hoping stuff
with Europe ends well and soon

FRIEND 2
Why what happened?
3

ALEX
It’s nothing just some stupid comments
about how I’m from Europe

FRIEND 2
Well what do you expect the negotiations broke
down leaving Brittan alone and it’s Europe’s
fault, you’re all too stubborn

FRIEND 1
That’s a bit harsh isn’t it

FRIEND 2
Not really, I mean you’ve seen the news it’s
his/her kind that’s causing so many problems for
us even after Brexit even more so before Brexit

FRIEND 1
Now that you mention it there is a lot of bad
blood between the UK and Europe at the moment

ALEX
But you can’t be sure that it’s Europe’s fault
I mean the politicians here weren’t making it
particularly easy for us either

Friend 2
Oh, shut up have you seen the news the whole
reason it took so long is because of you people
don’t want this country to progress without you

ALEX
I’m going home I can’t believe you believe that
Bullshit

ALEX walks home leaving before her/his friends can say anything
else and they continue to be heard for a short while as ALEX
walk off

EXT. HOUSE – AFTERNOON

A man is stood outside of ALEX’s house and walks over to ALEX

with a very stern look on his face.

JOHN
Hello are you Alex?
4

ALEX
Yes, who are you?

JOHN
I’m John I’m part of your local council
I’m here to hand out bands and identification
papers for people who aren’t native to the UK

ALEX
Why do I need identification papers and a band
now? I’ve lived here for years

JOHN
I’m just a messenger if you want to know more the
prime minister will be explaining everything
later on BBC 1

4. INT. HOUSE – LIVINGROOM – EVENING

ALEX is sat in their living room waiting for the prime

minister’s speech to come on the TV anticipating the
announcement about the papers and the arm bands.

The speech starts and the prime minister claims that due to the
tensions between the UK and the EU they need to know who comes
from Europe as they are a potential threat to the UK as not
everyone is happy with the laws in place.
