New Delhi, Sept. 15 -- The 'EY G20 Digital Entrepreneurship Barometer' ranks entrepreneurship in the group of 20, or
G20, countries on five metrics: access to finance; entrepreneurial culture; digital business environment; digital
skills and entrepreneurial education; digital knowledge base and the ICT (information and communications
technology) market.
The report was prepared by consulting firm EY and the G20 Young Entrepreneurs' Alliance, an international network
of entrepreneurs. EY also spoke to entrepreneurs in the digital and traditional sectors to arrive at the rankings.
India ranks in the bottom 10 on all the five metrics used:
-Access to finance: availability of equity and debt capital, financial regulation.
-Entrepreneurial culture: societal attitude towards entrepreneurship, patent activity, protection of intellectual
property.
-Digital business environment: broadband connectivity, regulations and taxation.
-Digital skills and entrepreneurial education: technical and leadership skills.
-Digital knowledge base and ICT market: availability of and access to technology, coaching, quality of research
institutions.
