INTER OIE NEVO asa RRR eemnmmeammmma To i _ State Operations Heads / State Engineering Heads ENG/ 34 Date : 29/05/2019 Sub : Works for Impervious Dyke and peripheral drains at various Terminals / Depots 1. Clause no. 7.6.1 of OISD 244 on the subject of Tank Farm Drains specifies the following Quote The dyke drain shall be provided along the inside periphery of the dyke enclosure wall. In case circular drain around tank pad is provided, the same needs to be connected to the peripheral drain. Unquote 2. Against works for provision of peripheral drains at one of the locations, a query has been received on whether the peripheral drain is required to be provided with the dyke wall as one of the walls of the drain. 3. The matter has been examined wherein in cases of brown field projects, itis felt that having the Dyke wall as a drain wall shall lead to exposing the foundations of the Dyke wall which is not desirable from the view point of stability as well as the possibility of internal height crossing 2 m (Refer Clause 6.4.1 (b)). 4. Considering above, the following may be taken into account while providing peripheral drains for brown field locations : a) The peripheral drain may be provided at a distance of 1-1.5 m from the dyke wall after obtaining stability certificate from a local consultant based on existing design parameters. b) Suitable slope should be provided between the Dyke wall and such peripheral drain also sas to prevent any accumulation / stagnation of water. Above is issued for compliance by all. roe vty een Be, HAC, Vijay Verma SK Bajpai 19. MS Sharma CGM (Ops) cam (Engg) 21! t GM (HSE) Page Loft
