As soon as I set foot on to the property, I caught sight of W—a grand gold,
mosaic-inlaid reflective totem right at the entrance. Just ahead, a set of
huge, unframed doors were adorned with the works of Goa-based artist
Subodh Kerkar, representing the moon’s lunar phases—and a nod to Goa’s
non-stop party culture. His structural artworks are peppered all over the
property, seamlessly weaving in elements of Goa’s Portuguese heritage, while
retaining the unmistakable ‘W’ individuality. Aside from a uniquely strong
design aesthetic, W properties across the world display a high degree of
customization and personalised hospitality: a Living Room instead of the

Another tryst with luxury came with an hour-long massage session at the Spa
by Clarins housed within the W Goa. Spread over 14,000 square feet, it is the
first in the country and offers a plethora of services. Aside from the
treatment rooms, sauna, steam and Oxygen room, is the heated vitality pool
located right in the middle of the spa. It was perfect for a swim one
afternoon, when the wet deck wasn’t an option due to the scorching 3PM
sun. Twenty minutes was all it took to rejuvenate and get me ready for the
evening’s activities
