X-RAY RADIATION PRECAUTION

PRECAUTION
1.Excessive high voltage can produce potentially hazardous X-RAY RADIATION. To
Avoid such hazards the high voltage must not be specified limit. The normal
value of the high voltage of this receiver is 28.5KV at zero beam current
(minimum brightness) under 230V AC power source. The high voltage must not under
any circumstances exceed 30KV.
2.Each time a receiver requires servicing the high voltage should be checked
following the HIGH VOLTAGE CHECK procedure in this manual. It is recommended
the reading of the high voltage be recorded as a part of the service record.
It is important to use an accurate and reliable high voltage meter.
3.The primary source of X -RAY RADIATION in this TV receiver is the picture tube.
For continued X-RAY RADIATION protection, the replacement tube must be exactly
the same type tube as used in this TV receiver.
4.Some parts in this receiver have special safety-related characteristics for
X-RAY RADIATION protection. For continued safety, parts replacement should be
undertaken only after referring the PRODUCT SAFETY NOTICE below.

SAFETY PRECAUTION

WARNING: Service should not be attempted by anyone unfamiliar with the necessary
Precautions on this receiver.
The following are the necessary precautions to be observed before servicing this
chassis.
1. Since the power supply circuit of this receiver is directly connected to the
AC power line. An isolation transformer should be used during any dynamic service
to avoid possible shock hazard.
2. Always discharge the picture tube anode to the CRT conductive coating before
handling the picture tube. The picture tube is highly evacuated and if broken,
glass fragments will be violently expelled. Use shatterproof goggles and keep
picture tube away from the unprotected body while handling.
3. When replacing a chassis in the cabinet, always be certain that all the
protective devices are put back in place, such as: nonmetallic control; knobs,
insulating covers, shields, isolation resistor-capacitor, network, etc.
4. When replacing parts or circuit boards, disconnect the power cord.
5. When replacing a high voltage resistor (metal oxide resistor) on circuit hoard,
keep the resistor 10mm(1/2 in.) away from circuit board.
6. Connection wires must be kept away from components with high voltage or high
temperature.
7. If any fuse in this TV receiver is blown, replace it with the FUSE specified
in the chassis parts list.
8. The receiver is designed to operate with 230V(50Hz) AC mains.

PRODUCT SAFERY NOTICE

Many electrical and mechanical parts in this chassis have special safety-related
characteristics are often passed unnoticed by a visual inspection and the X-RAY
RADIATON protection afforded by them cannot necessarily be obtained by using
replacement components rated for higher voltage, read the pares list in this
manual carefully. The use of substitute replacement parts that do not have the
same safety characteristics as specified in the parts list may create shock, fire,
X-RAY RADIATION or other hazards.

GENERAL ADJUSTMENT

AUTOMATIC DEGAUSSING
An automatic degaussing coil is attached around the picture tube, degaussing the
tube properly in about one second after the set is switched on. If the receiver

INSTRUCTION MANUAL

1
Introduction
Please read and follow the instruction manual carefully before the set is
operated in order to avoid any damage to the set caused by any wrong
operations.
Any adjustment or repair of the unit should be done by a qualified service
engineer only.

Installation
Locate the TV set in the room and where direct light does not strike the
screen to cause reflection on the picture screen. Reflection will reduce
contrast and color of pictures.
Total darkness or a reflection on the picture screen can cause eyestrain
easily. Soft and indirect lighting is recommended for comfortable viewing.
Avoid excessive warm locations to prevent possible damage to the plastic
cabinet or components. Keep this TV set away from radiators and other heat
sources.
Avoid using the TV set near strong magnetic fields.
Give enough space between the TV set and the wall to permit proper
ventilation. Do not block or cover the ventilation slots and openings on the
set. Avoid placing the TV set in close spaces unless there is adequate
ventilation.
Use the TV set in a horizontal (flat) position only.
Avoid dropping the TV set to the ground and vibrating the set violently.

POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE:

Connect the TV set to AC 180V-240V, 50/60Hz-never connect to DC supply or
other power sources. Make sure that you do use the rated voltage!

CAUTIONS:
Do not push objects of any kind into the cabinet slots as they may touch
current-carrying parts or short-circuit parts, resulting in fire, electric shock
or damage to the TV set.
Be careful not to spill liquid of any kind on this TV set. If it occurs, disconnect
the AC power supply cord immediately. And if there are any faults, consult
a qualified service engineer.
Do not place heavy objects on the TV set which may damage the cabinet or
cause trouble.
Unplug the TV set from the AC outlet when it will not be used for a
prospective long period of time.
During thundering and lightning, do unplug the power cord and antenna cord
to prevent the TV set and never touch the antenna cord during lightning.
You may experience static discharge when touching the TV set. If this

2
happens and the set fails to be operated, turn off the power and
disconnect the plug from the wall outlet.
Do not open the cabinet. There are no parts inside you can service by
yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
Never tamper with any components inside your set or any other adjustment
not mentioned in this manual. All TV sets are high voltage instruments. The
picture tube is highly vacuum, If broken, glass fragments may cause hurt.
Scratching, chipping or undue pressure is dangerous and should be avoided.
All “inside work” on your TV set should be performed only but qualified service
personnel!

TO AVOID THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE

THIS APPLIANCE TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.

AUTOMATIC DEGAUSSING
All color television receivers are sensitive to magnetic influences, usually
caused by either moving the receiver from one place to another or using
certain electrical appliances near the receiver. This residual magnetism as it is
called, sometimes causes distortion which gives rise to “blotchy” areas of
color in the picture. To avoid these effects, the receiver incorporates an
automatic degaussing circuit which operates for a short while each time the
receiver is switched on using the main switch. This circuit removes any
residual magnetism in the metal parts of the picture tube. The purity of the
colors displayed on the screen remains true and lifelike. If the set is moved or
faced to a different direction, the main switch must be switched off at least
ONE hour so that the automatic degaussing circuit operates properly.

CLEANING
Before you clean the TV screen or cabinet, disconnect the plug form the
wall outlet.
Clean up dry dust or finger stain with a soft dry cloth.
When the cabinet has become dirty, Slightly moisten the cloth with water or a
mild detergent solution. Never use chemicals, benzene solvents or thinner as
this may damage the finish of the cabinet.
When the screen becomes dirty, wipe it gently with a piece of soft lint cloth.
Do not rub hard or scratch the surface of the screen.
