Gait Analysis

Created by Jacob, Adam, Abby, Taylor

Data
● Gathered accelerometer data of subjects walking
● Graphed g-force in Y direction with respect to ground, with respect to time
Data Analysis
● Averaged peaks below g-force
of -1
● Gives single numerical
number which we call average
G(y)

g(y) for Test Subject

Avg. g(y) = -1.262
Equation
● Plotted height with respect to g-force
● Line of best fit: y = -28.382x + 28.346
● Predicted Height = 28.382 * Average G(y)
Peak + 28.346
Prediction
● Testing the model:
○ avg G(y) of -1.262
○ Predicted height of a test subject = 64.17 in
○ Actual height of subject = 64 in
Did it work
● It works within a 1-3 inch accuracy
○ Except for outliers
● The coefficient of determination between avg g-force and height ~ .74
○ 74% of variability in height can be accounted for through average G(y)
○ Outliers dropped coefficient of determination to less than .25
