Experience Design: “Hello, How Are You Feeling?

” Song 
 
Duration: ​3-4 minutes 
 
Domain Addressed: ​Communication, turn-taking, eye contact, social awareness, expressive 
language 
 
Materials and Visual Aids: 
● Ukulele for facilitator 
● Words displayed on projector 
● Music (traditional or non-traditional notation) displayed on projector (optional) 
● Instruments for students (optional) 
● Flags/ribbon for students (optional) 
 
Procedure: 
● Students enter room and are invited to sit in a circle with teacher included 
● Teacher or instructional aid carry bucket of instruments and ribbon to each student and 
ASK if they would like one 
● Teacher sits in circle in front of projected words and sings “Hello, How Are You Feeling?” 
Song to the tune of Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds”

Assessment: 
● Is there a noticeable difference in the student when their name is sung? 
● Does the student make eye contact with teacher when their name is sung? 
● Is the student singing? Humming? Dooting? Some words? All words? Matching pitch? 
● Is the student keeping beat? With instrument? On legs? Swaying? 
● Is the student keeping beat while singing? 
● How does the student participate when it is their turn? 
 
Adaptations: 
 
● Size: ​Large, bold font on board 
● Color: ​Text contrasts background 
● Pacing: ​different levels of participation (keeping beat, keeping beat while singing, just 
singing) and in improv section (different instruments, flags, ribbon, can choose to do 
nothing) 
● Modality: ​Words displaced on board, keep beat on legs, can sing along, can choose how to 
express themselves during their turn
