Brexit is an abbreviation for “British Exit” that referring to the U.K’s decision in June 23,
2016 voted to leave the European. The vote’s result caused British pound to fall to lowest level
against the dollar in 30 years. Former Prime Minister David Cameron, called the campaign and
referendum for British to remain in EU. And announced his resignation to the following day.
Britain is about to leave the EU by October 31, 2019. The government wants to extend the
negotiating period twice so avoid ‘’hard Brexit’’ or to force them to leave without the approved
deal with the EU.
What could Brexit possibly mean for the citizens of Europe? This is a major question that
ironically has a lot of answers despite the fact that it has not been implemented yet. It is almost
like the people in the government of the United Kingdom as well as the majority of the population
are drawing their hypothesis whether Brexit is a smart move or on the contrary. People not only in
Europe but also in different parts of the world have disseminated different perspective and opinions
regarding the said matter. Normally, there are always contradicting parties. Some are in favor of
Brexit and some are not. However, both standpoints present each of their perspectives which
allows the people to analyze as well as criticize the possible outcome Brexit may inculcate.

1
One of the greatest risk of Brexit is that no another country has ever departed from the
union before. Pros and cons of any country leaving or four countries at once are merely projections.
Only time can tell whether the countries will actually do what Brexit campaigners told them it
would. The Brexit campaigners told their constituents that the UK will no longer be responsible
for paying into the budget of the European Union. That’s true, but they probably won’t be saving
as much as they were told. In 2015, the UK or the United Kingdom would have been liable for £18
billion in contributions but thanks to the rebate program set up by Prime Minister Margaret
Thatcher they also received an instant £5 billion rebate. Add to that the £4.5 billion that the EU
spent in the UK in 2015 and that brings the net contribution down to about £8.5 billion.
Despite the cries from their fellow countrymen and several world leaders, the Brexiters
made up a worrying percentage of the population who subscribe to the growing trend of
nationalism around the globe. The vote to leave the EU signifies that a growing distrust in
worldwide trade and commerce organizations.
