GUIDELINES BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE COMMUNITY VISIT

BEFORE THE COMMUNITY VISIT

1. Each student should bring a copy of their itinerary and MUST join all the activities of the
IMMERSION. The responsibility of the school, teacher – in – charge, chaperone and organizer
starts of the first day and hour the itinerary begins;
2. Travel light. Strollers are discouraged unless specified otherwise. Knapsacks or handbags are
encouraged. Provisions (clothes, toiletries, etc.,) must be enough for the number of days of the
activity;
3. Students with pre – existing medical conditions or those under medications must bring their
own provisions. It is presumed therefore that, upon parent(s)/guardian(s)/sponsor(s)’s
approval, the student is deemed fit to travel and participate in all the activities;
4. Assembly time, departure and other schedules must be strictly followed as stated in the
itinerary and/or as instructed by the teacher – in – charge and chaperone;
5. Proper behavior and decorum while on transit, destination area, accommodation, etc., should
be observed at all times. Students must be in their best behavior in the entire duration of the
immersion;
6. Students must be mindful of all their personal belongings during the immersion. Bringing of
expensive jewelries, gadgets, excessive amount of money and other valuables not necessary
in any of the activities is highly discouraged.
7. Nobody is allowed to divert, cut short (of the activity), go out, and sneak out of the
accommodation facility. A penalty of behavioral probation, suspension, expulsion or exclusion,
whichever is appropriate will be imposed to violators once proven guilty of such actions;
8. Students who will be late during and any of the assembly schedules shall be left behind. The
instructor, chaperone, teacher – in charge has the right to leave anyone who will come in late
so as not to disrupt of destroy the pre – arranged activities in the itinerary and will NOT be
liable to any untoward incident that will happen to the student/s who will be left behind
9. Hang – over, dizziness, headaches, and such will not be tolerated if the if the cause of the
aforementioned sickness is due to lack of sleep, intoxication due to alcohol intake, or hyper
activeness
10. Off – Campus Activity Learning Output and Activity Observation Guide will be discussed and
distributed by the instructor prior to the schedule of departure. It is expected that the
participating students already know the data and other activity output requirements that will be
gathered during the activity.

DURING THE COMMUNITY ACTIVITY

1. The class shall have a courtesy call to the Barangay Chairman or any barangay
representatives upon arrival to the community.
2. The Faculty mentor shall discuss the purpose of the visit and the activities to be conducted.
3. Students are to observe proper decorum and behavior. Be aware that in community work,
you carry not only yourself but the name of the University.
4. Be courteous and polite in conversing with people especially those who are older than you.
Don’t use curse or offensive words.
5. Be a role model. Avoid showing disgust or annoyance if any inconvenience were
encountered.
6. Always observe the “buddy system”. Avoid wandering around the community individually.
7. Integrate with the community and observe community processes. Talk and interact with
people in the community.
8. The students’ attendance shall be taken twice, upon arrival in the community and before
leaving the barangay.
9. Know the purpose and limitation of the visit. Don’t make any promises that the class can’t
fulfil. This will only give the community false hope.
10. Document the community visit. Take pictures of the activities being conducted. Note
observations and get full names of people whom the class interacted, if necessary, include
their position or any relevant information.

AFTER THE COMMUNITY ACTIVITY

a. The class shall proceed back to the University. There will be no dismissal of class in the
community.
b. The Facilitator shall debrief the class about the visit in the university. Document any incidents
that occurred during the visit as well as students’ feedbacks, observations, comments and
suggestions.
c. The last attendance of the students shall be taken after the class discussion and debriefing.
