for example, apparently a folded-up case for a deck of cards. But really it is a deck of cards. No,

Cassandra, an ancient Trojan princess. Apollo fell in love with her and granted her with the gift of

prediction, which just at this moment will seem very probable, but in just a couple of minutes it will
seem like the most impossible event you have ever seen. You will pick the 10 of Spades. Now, to
make this impossible, would you please place the card in this envelope. And seal it. Perfect. Now
could you please sign the envelope, so we know that nothing has been tampered with. Now we have
an impossible situation. You have sealed your signed card in an envelope, signed that envelope, and
it is now in full view. And yet, you will still pick the 10 of Spades. Could you please touch the back of
any 4 cards? Perfect. Now, we have eliminated down from 52 to just 4. Now, could you please pick
up one card? And another? And put them back in the deck. Now, pick up the last two cards and hand
over either one to me. Now, hold the final card face down in your hand just for a moment. With
nothing in my hands, this envelope has been sitting here this entire time. But watch. Because what
your eyes tell you, your brain should never believe. And finally, could you please turn over the card
in your hand.
