Routine Task
1. What is statistics? (In your own words)
2. What is (are) the differences between descriptive statistic & inferential statistics?
3. What are the procedure for parametric and non parametrics analysis?

Answer

1. Statistics is the way to get information from data such as to collect data, after have the
data then we have to organize and put data in table or graph then analyzing data to find
the mean, median, mode or range and the last to interpret data to answer questions. So,
statistics is all about answering a question with mathematical techniques
2. Descriptive statistics used only to describe the sample or summarize information about
the sample. Example include mean, median, mode and standard deriation meanwhile
for Inferential statistics used to make inferences or generalization about the broder
populations. Example include t-test, ANOVA and correlation analysis.
3.
Parametric Non Parametric
None Chi-square for goodness of fit
None Chi-square for independence
Independent sampe t-test Mann-Whitney U Test
Paired-sample test Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test
One way between groups Kruskal-Wallis Test
ANOVA
One way repeated measures Friedman Test
ANOVA
Two way analysis of variance None
(between groups)
Mixed between within group None
ANOVA
Multivariate analysis of None
variance (MANOVA)
Analysis of covariance None

Parametric techniques make a number of assumptions about the population from

which the sample has been drawn. E.g. (normally distributed scores) and the nature of
the data (ratio or interval level scaling)
Non Paramateric techniques do not have such stringent assumptions. E.g. (normally
distributed scores) often the more suitable techniques for smaller samples or when the
data collected is measured only at the ordinal (ranked) level or nominal level.
