T he M unicipa lity of D a uis is g ener a lly a n a g r icultur a l tow n. A lthoug h its tour ism
potentia ls m a y ha v e becom e ev id ent w ith the esta blishm ent of v a r ious r esor ts
a nd tour ism -ba sed v entur es in the loca lity , fa r m ing a nd fishing still a r e
consid er ed m a j or sour ces of incom e for its people.

W hile household s in the m unicipa lity m a y ha v e g ener a lly subsisted their d a ily
liv es thr oug h econom ic a ctiv ities d r iv en by a g r icultur e a nd tour ism , pov er ty
ind ica tor s show tha t m a ny still a r e in the d epr iv ed sta te. T he Pov er ty
D a ta ba se M onitor ing S y stem r ev ea led tha t 4 9 . 5 1 % of the tota l num ber of
household s in D a uis is still liv ing below the I ncom e T hr eshold of P1 0 , 2 0 0 . 0 0 per
household per y ea r . T he sur v ey a lso show ed tha t a bout 1 6 . 6 6 % of the w or k ing
a g es in the m unicipa lity a r e unem ploy ed . T hese ind ica tor s w ould fur ther
ex pla in the pr esence of other lev els of d epr iv a tion in the m unicipa lity w ith
household s ha v ing d ifficulties in pr ov id ing for their food , w a ter , housing , hea lth
a nd sa nita tion fa cilities.

T he M unicipa l G ov er nm ent of D a uis, in r esponse to these cur r ent situa tions,


ha s been initia ting pr og r a m s a nd pr oj ects tha t w ould a llev ia te its people fr om
pov er ty a nd d epr iv a tion. O ne of these pr og r a m s is the a g r icultur a l pr od uction
enha ncem ent initia tiv e, w hich a im s to im pr ov e pr od uctiv ity a nd incom e of
a g r icultur e-ba sed household s. O ne of the str a teg ies in this initia tiv e is
im pr ov ing the liv estock pr od uction in the m unicipa lity thr oug h pr ov ision of
a ssista nce a nd suppor t to fa r m er s.

T his pr oposed ca ttle fa ttening a nd br eed ing a ssista nce pr oj ect suppor ts the
thr ust of the loca l g ov er nm ent pa r ticula r ly in the d ev elopm ent of liv estock in
the m unicipa lity . W ith sig nifica nt num ber of household s m a k ing their liv ing
fr om a g r icultur e, this pr oj ect is a m ea ns of im pr ov ing or pr ov id ing a d d itiona l
