Primary Data
data which depends on first hand information is basically called as primary data. For
example: if one wants to know about the popularity of a filmstar among college students
then for this enquiry from a huge no. of college students by asking them questions related to
whom they like the most ,to collect the wishful information would be needed. In this case ,
the resultant data of PRIMARY nature.
But if the data is being dealt with ( inspected ,examined ) by some other company or firm,
then it is known as SECONDARY DATA. It can be obtained either from:
1. Published sources
2. source such as Website, articles and magazines.

2. Price/cost
1. PERSONAL INTERVIEW
2. MAILING QUESTIONNAIRE
3. TELEPHONE INTERVIEW
Personal interview : when the researcher has the ingress to all the people concerned then
this method is preferred. The investigator conducts face to face interview with the applicants
. It is the method where personalized connection and communication is made between the
applicant and the person taking the interview.
questionnaire : in this method facts and figures in a survey are collected by mail, the
questionnaire is forwarded to every person through mail pleaing for finishing and returning
it by the given timeset duration and a certain date. It is less costly and permit the researchers
to have entry in remote areas too.
Telephonic interviews : in this type of interview , the investigator asks questions over the
phone. This method is inexpensive than the other two methods that is personal interview
and questionnaire mail and can be organized in no time.
