DIGITAL LITERACY TRAINING

Accomplishment Report

I. Overview
In the pursuit to realizing digitally-empowered citizens and
communities, the Department of Information and Communications
Technology aspires to carry out Specialized ICT Training Program
targeting the special needs sectors across the country.
Digital Literacy Training for Special Needs sector aims to:
❏ Provide basic information on ICT-related subjects that will help
enhance the knowledge of participants and, in the long run,
provide them with opportunities for employment and/or
entrepreneurship.
❏ Assist the government in narrowing the digital divide while also
strengthening inclusiveness among the special needs sectors in
the society.
❏ Bridge the digital literacy gaps in order to determine which
target groups across different sectors have the greatest needs
and where the most substantial benefits could be obtained for
individual groups and for the society as a whole.
❏ Empower both urban and rural based marginalized groups
across different sectors by enhancing their ICT capabilities and
by promoting the greater use of the internet and technologies
in their day-to-day activities.

Training Objectives

At the end of the course, participants are expected to:


 familiarize with the desktop environment and file management;
 learn the basics of browsing the Internet, creating e-mail and using
social media;
 practice how to create, edit/format and save document;
 create spreadsheet and identify the different formatting, and
formula;
 know how to construct presentation using designs, animation and
transition;
 acquire skill on computer assembling and disassembling techniques,
troubleshooting and maintenance of computer hardware;
 understand the computer network components and standards
II. Training Design
The Digital Literacy Training includes five (5) modules, namely:

Module 1: Computer and Internet Essentials


Module 2: Word Processing
Module 3: Electronic Spreadsheet
Module 4: Multimedia Presentation
Module 5: Computer Hardware, Troubleshooting and
Networking Fundamentals

Methodology
The course took the form of lectures
and practical sessions (hands-on
exercises and quizzes) to provide a
thorough understanding of the
fundamentals of the digital literacy.

 The Manicahan National High School Computer
Laboratory was utilized for the three (3) batches of
Digital Literacy Trainings
