1. INTRODUCTION
The power sector reforms in the state of Haryana were initiated by the Government of Haryana
(GoH) under the Haryana Reforms Act 1998 on 10th March 1998. The Haryana Electricity
Regulatory Commission (HERC) was formed on 16th August 1998 and the Haryana State Electricity
Board (HSEB) was unbundled in to two independent company’s viz. Haryana Power Generation
Corporation Limited (HPGCL), to undertake generation of electricity, and Haryana Vidyut Prasaran
Nigam Limited (HVPNL) to undertake transmission, distribution and retail supply of electricity in
the state of Haryana. Subsequently in July 1999, two distribution companies viz. Uttar Haryana Bijli
Vitran Nigam Ltd. (UHBVNL) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd. (DHBVNL) were
separated from HVPNL to exclusively undertake function of distribution and retail supply of
electricity in their respective geographic areas.
The Business of Discoms are regulated by the Haryana Regulatory Commission (HERC). The Power
is procured through Haryana Power Purchase Center (HPPC), which is a joint forum of UHBVN &
DHBVN. The Power is wheeled through the entire network through the State Transmission Utility
(HVPNL) on the payment of transmissions charges approved by HERC.

3. DETAILS OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
A. PROGRAM OFFERRED
Discom invites all the interested candidates to apply for Short Term Internship program with
“Haryana Power Distribution Companies” under which they can learn and contribute with their
innovative ideas towards the betterment of the various operations of the Discoms.

F. MODE OF SELECTION
Resume of the candidate should be sent in the first instance, along with format of application
through placement Cell.

G. STIPEND/CERTIFICATE
Discoms will pay stipend of Rs. 50,000/- on successful completion of 6 weeks internship program. A
certificate will be issued to the candidate at the end of internship program, after submission of
project report.
H. ACCOMMODATION
Accommodations will not be provided by the Discoms, the selected candidates will have to make
their own arrangements. Affordable accommodation (PGs, Hotels, Dharmshalas etc) are available
in the Tri-City Region i.e. in Mohali, Chandigarh and Panchkula which can be availed by the Intern
as per his budget. UHBVN Headquarter caretaker shall however assist the interns in getting
suitable place near by the office.
I. MODES OF TRANSPORT
Interns can avail the facility of a well-connected transport system in the Tri-City region:
• An efficient public transport system with a fleet of low floor AC Buses, numerous bus
stops.
• Wide range of mobile cab services ranging from UBER, OLA and even Bike Taxis from
RAPIDO and OLA.
Nearest Important Boarding Avenues: ISBT Panchkula Sector 5 (4 KM); ISBT Sector 17(11 KM), ISBT
Sector 43 (14 KM) Chandigarh; Chandigarh Railway Station (5.2 KM) and Chandigarh international
Airport (17 KM).
J. WORK SPACE
Proper work station will be allotted to the interns.
L. REPORTING
The interns will be reporting to the respective Head of the Department.
M. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
The performance of the candidate will be evaluated on the basis of presentation and final report
submission to the Discoms.

N. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
• Working Hours- 9:00 am to 5:00 pm form Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday
being non-working days. (Apart from the Gazette holidays as notified by the State
Govt.)
• On the date of joining interns will report to the CGM/ Admin, UHBVN, Panchkula for
further assigning of the offices to the interns.
• Hard work and diligence on part of the interns is desired and shall be appreciated.
• The interns are advised to maintain a formal code of conduct while dealing with
various officers of the Nigam.
• Any leave taken during the internship period shall be duly informed to the Officer
concerned.
• Meetings or discussions with the interns may be conducted with worthy CMD
/Director/ Senior officers to review the work undertaken by the interns.
• The work undertaken under the internship shall have to be complied and submitted in
the form of a Report at the end of the internship, for the review of the Worthy
Chairman cum Managing Director.
