Beethoven Sonata Op. 10 no. 2

- When practicing the 5th finger, raise the hand and wrist.

- When you press, make sure that the finger comes in contact with key for a significant amount of time.

- When you prepare for a recital, prepare three tempi: slow, moderately fast, and fast. You have to
option to choose which tempo to play on the performance depending on the piano.

Chopin Etude Op 10 no. 4

- How to play faster: play one level softer, ignore any wrong notes and keep playing, going with the flow,
fingers should not be heavy

- Arpeggios: straight fingers, shoulders down

- If you lock yourself one beat at a time, the piece will feel slower. Count swelling forward.

Chopin Etude Op 10 no. 8

- Use the wrist to transfer weight.

- Make the left hand more melodic.

- Keep the wrists high, do not drop them.

Beethoven - Op. 109 2nd mvt.

- The time signature is in 6/8, not 2/4 with triplets. The rhythm is much more pronounced (not swing).

- Soft, dark tone: wrists low and less finger action

- octaves: go into the keys, towards the fallboard

- When the texture becomes contrapuntal, think about orchestration. Assign one instrument to one
voice.

- Beethoven's music needs to show clarity of the texture. Pedaling is important.

Beethoven - Op. 109 1st mvt.

- Tone bears much more importance.
