Assessment of learning
(summative)
a) assessment that is accompanied by a number or letter grade(summative), goes wit
number, grades, etc.
b) compares one student's achievement with standards(:refers to the grading system
based on a criteria)
purpose : for grading.
c) result can be comminicated to the studet and parents
d) occurs at the end of the learning unit

formative assessment
-occurs during the learning or before also
-to improve leaning
-grows learning
-done with learners
-narrows the ability range
-personally referenves
-process focused

a)comprisees two phrases-initial or diagnostic assessment and formative assessment

initial-from the start
b)assessent can be based on variety of information(sources)
ex. portfolios, works in progress, teacher observation)
c)verbal or written feedback to the student is primarily descriptive(not numerical)
and emphasize strength
d)teacher addjust the instructions to keep students on track(reteach,reciew, etc.)
