The school caters for a diverse student population with 74% of students from a wide range of non-English speaking backgrounds, 10 students from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and 25 students enrolled in our 3 special education classes. There are currently 60 academically selective students in each year. ‘Summary Comment: During the 60 hour block at PHS, Zachary worked effectively in the Learning and Support Faculty. He adhered toa timetable where he attended elasses and provided one-on-one and group support to Stage 4 & Stage S students in a variety of subject areas, including English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Science and Visual Arts. Zachary also helped to support our Learning Foundations class, a class consisting of 10 students who are two stage levels below their cohort, by supporting the classroom teacher and delivering literacy lessons, Zachary's strong interpersonal and communication skills enabled him to engage students in their learning and support classroom teachers. He was able to assist in differentiating and modifying tasks to tailor learning and providing effective feedback. Zachary also assisted with implementing strategies to improve targeted Stage 5 students who have not met the National Minimum Standards to be eligible for a HSC. He worked collaboratively with faculty members in designing literacy activities which supplemented the schools program.
