Domains are industry related in Cognizant. As we have Insurance, Banking a.k.a BMS, Manufacturing and
logistics a.k.a Manlog, Healthcare etc. The day you join Cognizant as a fresher trainee, you will be
allocated to one of these domains which means you will get a project where the client will be from the
domain to which you belong. This happens after you successfully complete your training.

Does Cognizant send everybody for training to Chennai, or do they have decentralized training centers
at various locations?

Well.. Cognizant do have training centers at Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Kolkata and Pune along with
Chennai..
But the capacity they have at Chennai is very large that's the reason many people from different cities
are posted in Chennai. Also the projects and seating capacity in Chennai is almost 50% of entire
organization. So most of the people have to work from Chennai..

Cognizant has one of the best training centres in India and its training curriculum is also highly awarded.
They will teach you your assigned technical domain plus some softskill classes will be there for your all
round learning.

Various stages of Cognizant Training:

1.After your domain is assigned the batch owner will come and teach you about what to do and what
not to do inside academy. You will be told that for Cognizant you are just a number and if you fail to
clear your exit tests. You will be shown the door.

2. Then the trainer will come he will show you the details of your syllabus as developed by the business
unit. He will tell you how to write test in EBox(Cognizant proprietary online testing platform) and how to
get study materials. You will also be notified the probable date of completion of training.

3.Then starts the training . If you are from non CS/IT background you may face the heat but believe me
Cognizant provides sufficient time for learning .You just need to be sincere and focussed.

4. You will face exit test on C, Java ,SQL, Cobol etc. on ebox here there will be 30 mcq's and 6
programmes which you need to code. EBox is fully automated which means if your code is compiled
correctly and all the test cases has passed then you will get full marks otherwise zero.If its passing some
of the test cases then you can get partial marking. There are three attempts for each exam so no need to
worry.

5.After completing all this people from Business Unit will come and they will teach you about the tools
you will be working in Busieness unit. Then they will give you one project which is called as MFRP(My
First Real Project).

6.After completing all this stages you will be transferred to various projects across India. If you fail to
clear even a single test then HR will come and will take your resignation and will give you 40,000
rupees in cheque.
Cognizant academy provides training on several Information Technologies and Infrastructure services
programs. These training sessions are of 1.5 months upto 3-4 months. They are solely based on the
project requirement from number of Business Units within CTS.
The training sessions are conducted by tutor hired externally or associate level employee of cognizant
with very strong relevant technical skills. The sessions are followed by Exit tests on same technologies
which are web based tests. Once cleared of the tests you will be deployed in projects. The training is not
very aggressive and exams have average questions for more intake of candidates.
I am not sure if you are looking for any internship in Cognizant or ELT training program. The above
program is w.r.t ELT training and you might have already got selected through On campus or Off campus
drive to enroll in this program based on DOJ.

Before joining cognizant some e-learnings have to be completed, also you can complete them during
your training. E-learnings are video based and some presentations about the domain you will be getting
which are to be read by the trainees.

After training

After your MFRP, if you are lucky, you get an interview call soon. If not, it might take any number of
days. May be 10 days after, may be 20, or it could also be a month or two.
Once you're in a project, your real learning starts from here. Training is all fun. You make good friends,
be around, look for dumps, etc. But when you're in a project, your team gives you KT (Knowledge
Transfer) so that you understand what they guys are working with. You are assigned a supervisor whom
you report for any leave application, any queries, or anything related to you.

Meanwhile, you're about to complete one year in Cognizant, and it's time to complete RDP
certifications. These are mandatory for you to get your default promotion from PAT to PA. But
ultimately, it could be delayed by maximum 3 months. But no need to worry for this, RDP is pretty easy
to clear and there are enough learnings on portal which you may refer before taking assessments.

Then follows your quarterly appraisal reviews by your manager, JIRAs and slowly your team starts
rendering you some responsible work.
