Motion: This house would prevent those who deny climate damage from seeking political office

In the beginning, God created heaven and earth, our earth which is our home was once full
of life and free from damage. I have a friend of mine who really enjoyed the beauty of God’s
creation but as the years go by the smile she once had vanished. She dreamt of a world where in it
is free from damage but now, in this present time it is already seen that climate damage is rampant.
Some people may say that it’s part of the natural process and denies that climate damage is really
happening. Some may also say that climate damage needs to resolve to preserve the creation of
God and to enjoy life to the fullest.
The motion “This house would prevent those who deny climate damage from seeking
political office” wants us to choose whether to prevent those people who deny climate damage
from seeking political office or not. My stand for this motion is to PREVENT those who deny
climate change from seeking political office. People in politics have an affinity to its citizens. That
is to say, any statement they express can influence how people view the society. In the context of
climate change, the effect of an aspiring politician denying it can convince people to turn against
the scientific evidences that climate change possess. The allies of these figures can influence other
people to believe the same thing even if it’s not true. The domino effect continues up until everyone
believes that climate change is only a myth. This is harmful because social mobility in combating
climate change is only possible if people have a consensus the reality of climate change also, we
need a leader that has an advocacy and is active of saving the environment. Climate damage has a
lot of effects not only to us people but to all living things in this world. Climate damage is not a
small problem, many are already affected by this. The potential future effects of global climate
change include more frequent wildfires, longer periods of drought in some regions, greater damage
on agriculture, rising temperature and an increase in the number, duration and intensity of tropical
storms. Choosing a leader that denies climate challenge will not alleviate these mentioned
problems. A leader must be firm with his or her decision about the rehabilitation process. Choosing
a leader who doesn’t deny climate damage will most like initiate different projects regarding
saving mother earth. A leader must be also knowledgeable to his or her people and also a leader
must empower his or her people regarding on how to combat climate damage.
The other side of this motion may say that “it is the right of every citizen to seek the
political office so you must not prevent it”. Yes, it is the right of every citizen, but in times like
this where in climate change is already rampant, we need a leader who does not deny the fact that
climate change is happening. We need a leader who is willing to risk everything just to make sure
that actions or at least even small steps are done in order to combat climate damage. Imagine a
world where in leaders deny the presence of climate damage, the mentioned future effects of
climate change will be felt by every people in the world in no time. The other side may also say
that “there are still other problems more important than that”. It may not be important as of now,
but as we all know, prevention is better than cure. It is better to plan out ahead of time than
regretting in the end. Our environment is the crown jewel that God has created for us. Ignoring
climate change will lead to a disaster. For some it’s okay for now to ignore the presence of climate
change since there are other problems that are more important, but if we want to seek the political
office, we must put in mind that all problems must never be denied. Be it a small problem or a big
problem, it is still a problem that needs to resolve.
