DEATH

I doubt any of us looks forward to the actual process of dying; after all, God
has put within each of us a desire to live, as well as an abhorrence of pain. Even
if death comes gently (as apparently was the case with your aunt), we still shrink
from it. But we also know that sometimes death comes slowly and painfully, and
no one wants to experience that. But death is a reality, and no matter how it
comes we know God has not abandoned us if we belong to Christ. More than
that, we know that our experience of death is temporary, for it is only the gateway
to the glorious life God has promised for us in heaven. The Bible’s promise is
true: Nothing “in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that
is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39). Never forget that Jesus came for one
reason: to tear down the barrier that separates us from God, a barrier caused by
our sin. Death came into the world because of sin, and we all share in its curse.
But Jesus Christ came to give us new life ,life right now, and life in heaven with
God forever.

REFLECTION

Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and
divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a
result, they have no excuse; for although they knew God they did not accord him glory
as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their
senseless minds were darkened. While claiming to be wise, they became fools and
exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortals.
Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the
mutual degradation of their bodies. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and
revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever.
