1 INTRODUCTION

Where am I going? What's after this life?

D eath is a terrifying subject we all think about. No one

escapes it, and we all come to believe that one day we too
will take that leap into eternity. The questions "where do we go
when we die" or "where are our loved ones?", remain a mystery
to many people and while we are busy with our daily lives
(studies, work, marriage, etc.) time races by us and before we
know it we are eighty without getting answers to these
questions. For us Christians, it's like not seeing the elephant in
the room because the answer is obvious to us and that's why in
this little booklet I want to show you from a Christian
perspective what death is, where we are going and why our
choice determines everything.
The first impression people have of the Bible is that
it's a bloodthirsty book with a God who sends everyone to
hell. Because of this, many people get the wrong impression
with the result that many abandon God and reject His word. Big
participants of this are the Catholic Church and Jehovah's
Witnesses who give people this wrong image, but I want to
show you that this is not the case and that God is actually loving
and wants to bring everyone to repentance with the good news
of His Son. He is trying to warn us about our present condition
and that His Son is the only solution to our reconciliation with
Him. Therefore, this booklet will still be quite confrontational at
first and a reason to throw it away. Should you still be interested
in the word of God after reading it and have questions regarding
science or questions regarding authenticity, you can find us at
the back where you can ask all your questions in our Telegram
group.
CONTENTS 2

B efore we look at what death is, we want to know why we

die. The story begins with the mistake that occurred in
the beginning when the first man made the choice to rebel
against The Creator, bringing sin into the world, resulting in
death. The Creator could have chosen to give up and destroy
us, but He loved us too much and devised a plan to be able to
reconcile us to Him. He sent His own Son (Jesus Christ) two
thousand years ago to die on the cross for our sins, defeating
death and allowing YOU to live with Him forever! I want to
help you through some steps to come to the discovery that the
Bible gives us the answer to the question of death.
We discuss a total of these six parts:
1) Are we sinners?
We are going to do a self-test to see if you are a good person by
looking at God's law.
2) The penalty for sin is death
We will see that we have all broken God's law and thus must pay a
price.
3) We deserve punishment
This price weighs enormously and is therefore not taken seriously
by many people.
4) But there is hope
But there is hope through the blood of Jesus because He paid this
price for us on the cross.
5) Repent and believe in Jesus
For if we believe that He did this for us we will be with Him for
eternity.
6) It is eternal and free
For it is free and for nothing (we cannot earn it).
3 ARE WE SINNERS?

A side from the fact that the subject of "sin" does not
resonate with anyone, we should not deny that we are
sinners. When people think of sin they often associate it with
hurting others, not fulfilling our potential or having a negative
impact on the world, and so below I want to clarify a little more
about sin and about our current condition.
The Bible tells us that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and
are born as sinners. By nature, we are sinful with sinful desires.
This is because of the error that occurred in the beginning
through Adam. Every man and woman has inherited sin from
Adam. The Bible says that sin is breaking the law of God. In a
nutshell, sin is making a decision or lifestyle that is contrary to
the law of God, and so I want to take you to court to see if you
are guilty just like me and the rest of the world.

Many people will say of themselves that they are a good

person, but are they?
Sin can be easily recognized by looking at God's law and
asking ourselves these questions:
- Have I ever stolen (even if it's something small)?
- Have I ever used God's name for a swear word?
- Have I ever lied?
- Have I ever been disrespectful to my parents?
- Have I ever looked at someone with lust?
These are five of the ten commandments (Exodus 20:1-17).
If you have broken any of these laws, it means you have
broken God's law and are therefore guilty.
THE PENALTY FOR SIN IS DEATH 4

W e have just admitted that we have broken God's law and

are therefore all guilty. When we break a law, a price
must be paid for it. This price is death and the first book of the
Bible tells how death came into the world when Adam made the
choice to sin against God, this resulted not only in death but
also disasters, sickness and suffering. When the Bible speaks of
death, it has two meanings, physical death and spiritual death.
Spiritual death is the result of sin and means that we can no
longer be in the presence of God and are therefore separated
from Him forever. Physical death, on the other hand, determines
our destiny whether or not we have forgiveness of sin.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).

So we see even though we are in this condition that God again

leaves the choice with us as with Adam and Eve. He warns us
again now that a day of judgment is coming when He will
reckon with every man, judging each according to his good or
bad works (Revelation 20:11-15). The Bible tells us that this is
why we are in danger right now because we do not have
forgiveness for our sins. This means that if we were to die in
our sins there is no turning back and we cannot receive
forgiveness either. God will then when it is judgment day see
who has accepted Jesus as Savior and Redeemer and those who
have not will be separated from Him forever (Hebrews 9:27). So
we must act now and cry out to Jesus for forgiveness because
we do not know when it is our last day.
5 WE DESERVE PUNISHMENT

A s we have just read, we see that we have a big problem

since we do not have forgiveness of sin. This means that
if we die in our sins, that we have to pay the price ourselves.
This price the Bible calls hell and is not taken seriously by
many people because they think they are a good person
because why would a good God send "good" people to hell?
As we just read in God's law, His justice is just a little
different from ours, and thankfully so! Many people therefore
underestimate the horror of hell, because just as heaven is
much more beautiful than we can ever imagine, hell is much
more horrible and terrifying than we can ever imagine.
What is hell
Hell is an eternal place of torment. The Bible says it is a place
of unquenchable fire. There is no rest in hell. It is a place where
you will feel eternal guilt and condemnation and there will be
nothing to take it away, but also something many people forget
besides that hell is a place of eternal pain and sorrow, is that
because we make the choice to distance ourselves from God, we
also distance ourselves from His glory, including the amazing
gifts He has given us that we enjoy every day such as, listening
to music, tasting delicious food, laughing in tears and feeling
love. If we will make the choice to continue to sin against our
Creator, this will become our final destiny, which is eternal. But
don't worry, this is not the place you need to be, because there
is hope.
BUT THERE IS HOPE 6

T here is Good News! Jesus Christ came to the world 2,000

years ago to seek that which is lost. He came to offer
forgiveness for all sinners (Luke 19:10). I would like to give you
a clearer picture of what Jesus did for us by recommending a
movie. In this movie, we see the agony of Jesus, and the
punishment He took on Himself that we actually deserved. The
movie is called The Passion of the Christ and is directed by Mel
Gibson. This movie shows us the terrible agony of Jesus, but at
the same time the love God has for us because He gave His own
Son as a sacrifice. We can see this as a legal payment He made
for us. If we break God's law by stealing, lying or cheating, it
means that we have a legal debt with God that will not go
unpunished. This, then, is what must be paid for.

“ In whom we have redemption through his blood, the

forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”
(Ephesians 1:7)

So to sum up this good news, we see the proof of God's

unconditional love for man in that He sent His own Son to die
for the sins of every human being in this world so that we can
be with Him for eternity. He paid the ransom price for us on the
cross, thereby paying off our debt that we owed. So we also see
from Jesus' suffering the punishment we have earned, namely
the pain, sorrow, but worst of all, separation from God. This is
why it is important that we have forgiveness of sins so that we
will not stand empty-handed on the day of judgment. So the
only hope we have in this life is Jesus Christ.
7 REPENT AND BELIEVE IN JESUS

N ow that God has paid for our sins through Jesus, He

wants us to repent of our sins and dedicate our lives to
Him so that we go from being dead in our sins to be alive with
Jesus. Repentance is changing our thoughts and ways. We will
have to turn away from our old habits so that we can receive
forgiveness of sins and thus become free. Once we repent and
choose Jesus, He will forgive our sins and we will receive the
Holy Spirit

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every

one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
(Acts 2:38).
The apostle Peter declared: “Repent ye therefore, and be
converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of
refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”
(Acts 3:19).
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing
that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
(2 Peter 3:9).

So repentance involves acknowledging that you have thought

wrongly in the past and deciding to think right and want to do
right in the future. God wants us to confess our sins because He
wants us to have eternal life with Him. God has done so much
for us simply because He loves us, and now He wants us to
repent and follow after Him.
HOW TO REPENT 8

T o be united with God again from our spiritual separation,

we must recognize that our old lifestyle is contrary to His
will, and therefore we want to repent from our old ways.
Below are six steps how we can make amends and have
eternal life with Him.

- 1. We must acknowledge our sins

To repent, we must admit to ourselves that we have sinned (1
John 1:9). We can do this by looking at the 10
commandments (Exodus 20:1-17).

- 2. We must be remorseful of our sin

In addition to acknowledging our sins, we must be sincerely
sorry for our sins (2 Corinthians 7:10).

- 3. We should stop sinning

Our sincere regret should lead us to renounce (stop) our sins
(1 Corinthians 15:34).

- 4. We must confess our sins

Confessing our sins is very important. The Lord has
commanded us to confess our sins (Romans 10:9).

- 5. We must forgive others

An essential part of repentance is forgiving those who have
sinned against us (Ephesians 4:32).

- 6. We must keep the commandments

To make our conversion complete, we must keep the Lord's
commandments (Deuteronomy 7:9).
9 IT’S ETERNAL AND FREE

N ow that we know how to repent, it is very important that

we know that we cannot pay for our salvation with good
works, the Bible is very clear about this. The Bible tells us that
we cannot earn our way to heaven (like the Quran, Hinduism,
etc.). Jesus says, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one
comes to the Father but through Me.
So our good works are an imperfect means to a perfect
destination. We can never be good enough to find ourselves in
a place of perfection. Therefore, God must do all the saving
work through Jesus. No good work can be done on our part, so
there is absolutely nothing on which we could ever boast
(Ephesians 2:8-9).
Grace is given to us free of charge through faith in Jesus.
According to the Bible, grace is a free gift given to us without
payment of our own good works. God justifies us "by faith
without the works of the law" (Romans 3:28) and grants us His
"righteousness without works" (Romans 4:6).

(Romans 3:21) But now without the law the righteousness of

God is revealed, which was testified to by the Law and the
Prophets: namely, the righteousness of God through faith in
Jesus Christ, unto all and upon all them that believe, for
there is no distinction. For all have sinned and lack the
glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through
salvation in Christ Jesus.
SEE YOU IN HEAVEN 10

H aving come to the end on the question of death, by a

brief summary we can draw a conclusion from this.
We have all broken God's law and therefore fall short of His
righteousness, making us doom-worthy on the day of judgment.
We get an immediate answer to our question of death, and we
see that our choice determines where our final destination will
be when we die, for just as God left the choice to Adam and
Eve to sin, He also leaves the choice to us whether we want
forgiveness of our sins through His Son or to continue with our
sinful lives without repenting.

If you did come to the decision that you want forgiveness of

your sins and give your life to Jesus, then your sins will be
forgiven and these are some promises from God for you. 1 You
have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus and God has forgiven
your sins (Psalm 103:12). 2 You have passed from death to life
(John 5:24). 3 Jesus will be there for you in times of need, and
He promises He will never leave you (Hebrews 13:5). 4 The
Holy Spirit will guide you in the truth, helping you to live
according to the will of God (John 16:13). 5 If you pray, God
will hear your prayers, and He will answer them (1 John 5:15). 6
If you will read the Bible daily, it will cause you to grow in
truth and knowledge (1 Peter 2:1-3). 7 The cross is eternal
evidence of God's love for you (Romans 5:8).

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be
saved. (Romans 10:13)
