Have more time with me

School life is usually associated with a lot of tasks, activities, examinations, and homework. However, some
of the students set their tasks and assignments aside instead of doing it immediately. That is why they take several
hours on their works and cause them to sleep late. As a consequence, they can’t have enough time of sleep because
they have to wake up early. In this essay, the reasons why we should have to sleep early and have enough time of
sleep will be discussed.

The first reason why we should have enough time of sleep is that it is important to our brain. Sleep makes our
brain function properly and well. When we sleep, our brain washes away the wastes that block us to gain new
memories. So if we lack sleep, it affects our ability to think, learn, solve problems, and make decisions. Therefore,
insufficient sleep may affect our performance in school. It would be hard for us to focus on what our teacher is
teaching because it is difficult to concentrate. For example, your teacher in math is teaching about how to solve some
math problems, but you can’t understand what he was saying because you are sleep and your mind is foggy. After
discussing, he gave you an activity and you got zero because you know nothing.

The second reason to avoid sleep loss is that it affects our mood. Sleep makes our emotional brain circuits
recalibrates, allowing us to deal with our problems with long temper and positive composure. Studies also indicate
that people who are lack sleep are prone to having negative emotions such as anger, frustration, irritability and
sadness, and decreases in positive moods. It can also increase the risk of, and even lead to the development of some
mood disorders such as depression and anxiety.

Lastly, lack of sleep can badly affect our health. Not getting enough sleep may develop Alzheimer’s because
the brain can’t completely get rid of the toxic protein called beta amyloid that associated with this disease. The less
we sleep than the average time, the more that toxic will build up. The more it builds up, the higher the risk of having
dementia in later life. Insufficient sleep also greatly affects our immune system. Even just one night of short sleep
duration may reduce 70% of critical anticancer-fighting immune cells called natural killer cells. That’s the reason
why sleeplessness can give you a high risk of having numerous forms of cancer such as cancer of the bowel, cancer
of the prostate and even cancer of the breast. Also, the World Health Organization considers any nighttime shift
works as carcinogen because of the strong link between sleep and cancer. Not enough sleep can also impact your
cardiovascular system. Sleep is the most wonderful form of effective blood pressure medication and without it, it is
difficult to maintain our blood pressure normal. Based on studies, having less than six hours of sleep can increase
the risk of having fatal heart attack or stroke.

“The shorter your sleep, the shorter your life span.” Sleep is essential to our lives. Without it, we will be
suffering from different health issues and may lead us to death. It also helps us relieve our stress. There’s nothing
can replace the benefits we can get in having a good sleep. We should give importance to it before it’s too late for
us. We should have enough time of sleep before we drift into an endless slumber.
