GETTING ACCESS TO AN SAP S/4HANA TRIAL SYSTEM

The SAP S/4HANA trial system offers a complete demo guide, examples
of typical installation and infrastructure features and up-and-running
landscapes to mirror real-life scenarios.

SAP currently offers to host the trial system on the infrastructure of two
cloud providers: Amazon Web Service or Microsoft Azure. An account
with one of these providers is required to setup the trial system. Hourly
costs charged by the cloud providers ranges from ~ 3.00$ to 4.00$
depending on the system parameters.

(1) To search for the SAP S/4HANA Trial, for example, in Google, enter S/4HANA Trial,
and press Enter.

(2) Choose SAP Announces SAP S/4HANA, On-Premise Edition Trial.

(4) Choose the 30-day trial offer link.

(5) Choose Start your trial now.

(6) First you need to register for the SAP Cloud Appliance Library. Choose Register.

Enter your name and the other required data in the Registration form.

(7) Click the scroll bar, to scroll down.

Enter your company data in the form.

(8) Choose Register.

You have finished the registration and an e-mail with a link to activate
your account has been sent to your e-mail address.

(9) Open a new tab, and open your e-mail account.

(10) To activate your account with SAP, open the e-mail.

(11) Choose the contained link in the e-mail.

A new tab opens.

The account has successfully been activated.

(12) Choose Continue.

(13) Read the Terms and Conditions, and choose I Accept to accept them.

The trial period will begin on the date you accept the Terms and
Conditions.

Once you are logged on to the Cloud Appliance Library you first need to
enter the account details of your cloud-hosting provider. For this demo, we
will use an Amazon Web Services account.

(14) Enter the Access Key AKIAILG,


and choose the Secret Key field.

(15) Enter the Secret Key XYZ12345,


and choose Test Connection.

The connection with the cloud provider is valid.

Within the second step, the cloud instance is specified. In the standard
selection, you can define the name as well as the password, which is later
on required to logon to the system. Furthermore, you can define the
server location.
In addition, there is also an advanced mode available, which allows
specifying the instance in more detail (e.g. static IP addresses &
availability schedule).

Once you created the instance, the hourly fee will be charged to your
account. Charges will apply while the instance is active, it is possible to
manually activate and suspend the instance or create availability
schedules in order to reduce the costs.

(16) Choose Create.

(17) The private key has been generated.

To store it in the SAP Cloud Appliance Library, choose Store.

(18) Choose Close.

The S/4HANA Trial instance is now deployed to the environment of your


Cloud provider. This process takes about 45 minutes and the system may
not be accessed prior to the completion of this process

(19) Choose OK.

The status of the trial instance is Prepared.

After about 45 minutes, the solution instance is Active and you can use it.

(20) To open the instance details, choose Acme Trial Instance.

Within the overview, you can review the instance details, specify
schedules or activate and suspend the instance manually. To suspend
and activate the instance the buttons in the top should be used. If the
instance is no longer required, it is also possible to terminate the solution.

Within this demo we will now access the solution via a remote desktop
connection. Therefore, take a note of the number for the Windows
Remote Desktop External IP Address.

Open a Remote Desktop Connection. Open a remote desktop tool of your


choice (in this case Remote Desktop Connection).

(21) To connect to the remote desktop, enter the


Windows Remote Desktop External IP Address 54.205.242.243,
and choose Connect.
As this is a public IP address, you might experience connection issues due to your
companies firewall settings. In this case, please contact your IT department.

(22) Choose Use another account.

(23) Enter the user name administrator,


and choose the Password field.

(24) Enter the password XYZ12345, which was defined during creation of the instance,
and choose OK.

(25) Choose Yes.

The remote desktop session opens and you see a welcome page with
additional information about the S/4HANA Trial instance.

A list with standard users is displayed on the page. All users have already
necessary applications and authorizations required for their business
function assigned.

(26) To get access to the SAP S/4HANA trial system, choose the link SAP Fiori
Launchpad.

(27) Choose I Understand the Risks.

(29) Choose Confirm Security Exception.

The SAP S/4HANA Trial System opens.

(30) Enter, for example, the User s4h_fin,


and choose the Password field.

and choose Log On.

You are logged on to the SAP S/4HANA trial system and can start
exploring the apps assigned to this user now.
