Occluding calamities: Spain and Philippines in 19th Century

I. A political instability occurred in Spain in 19th century.

A. To save the country for political disunity,the Spanish proceeded with the canovite

and rotarism.

B. Troughout the 19th Century ,frequent changes in the Philippine administration occurred.

C. A mercatalism occurred in the Philippines.

II.One significant disadvantage of mercatalism is the occurrence of governments enifficiency resulting to

a humanitarian and administration catastrophies/calamities.

A. The Spain's adoption policy/rules affect the Philippines several ways over.

1.A greater participation in the trade was created by middle class people.

a. A social pyramid occurred in the Philippines resulting to a status inequality.

i. A lot of filipnos were discriminate by a name calling terms " Indio".

2. Middle class families could send their children to a higher education in Spain.

a. An enlightenment ideas become more prevalent in the middle class people.

i. People known as illustrados occurred , known as " the enlighten ones"

ii. They question the abuse of the Spaniards and among them is Rizal who

said that due to the colonial rule filipnos became lazy and indolent.

3. The opening of Suez canal.

a. A variety of natural resources are being traded in the Philippines.

B. The Philippines during Rizal's time.

1.Filipinos lost their ancestral land due to encomienda system.

a. A lot of filipnos suffered in hunger due to the lost of their daily livelihood

from their ancestral land.

2. Filipinos were force by Spaniards to accept Spanish culture and religion.

b. Filipinos who doesn't accept the foreign culture and tradition we're being .
death.
 3. The political structure change change from the Government- General to the

de Barangay.

a. The officials elected abuse their authority of power specially the Spanish friar.

i. Some people got beaten up/abuse by the friar.

4. The social pyramid was created starting from the highest which is the Insulares

to the lowest which is the Indio.

a. A racism occurred in the Philippines.

i. Filipnos are racially discriminate for being called indio.

III. The Philippines suffered a lot due to the political instability of Spain.

A. Due to the frequent changes in the Philippines Administration governments eniffiency , racism
and illustrados particular occurred and one among them is Rizal.

B.The political instability of Spain created a great calamities to all the region it previosly conquered.
