5. Redundancy Setup
DeltaV Connect™ Solution for Moore® Systems is a “redundancy aware” interface. To utilize the
redundancy feature, DeltaV Connect™ Solution for Moore® Systems modules must be setup on
an Application Station with Redundant Assigned Modules enabled and the appropriate APACS
redundancy license assigned.
5.1. Maximum Number of Application Stations
The Application Station pair counts as one node in the DeltaV system. The DeltaV system
can host up to 10 Application Stations; therefore up to 10 pairs of Application Stations with
Redundant Assigned Modules subsystems are allowed on one DeltaV system.
5.2. Hardware Configuration
The Preferred Active and Preferred Standby Application Stations should have the same
hardware configuration (processor, system memory, hard drive, etc.) so that the standby
Application Station is capable of handling the DeltaV configuration should it become the
active Application Station.
NOTE: Attach both Application Stations to the DeltaV control network using Ethernet
switches (not hubs). The two partners utilize the DeltaV control network as their redundancy
link. A switch will isolate this node and contain redundancy related transmissions between
them, rather than transmitting them to other DeltaV nodes.
5.3. Enabling Redundancy
To establish Assigned Module subsystem redundancy in the Application Station pair, a
DeltaV System Administrator user follows these steps:
1. Locate the file “DvRAMEnab.exe” found in the folder C:\DeltaV\bin on the DeltaV
Professional Plus station. Running this application and enabling this option allows the
redundancy checkbox to appear on the Application Station Properties dialog.
2. Double-click the file to run the application. The redundancy checkbox appears (see
Figure 9).
3. Select the “Enable Redundant Assigned Modules” checkbox.
4. Close the application.

5. Stop and Restart the DeltaV Database Server using the DeltaV Database
Administrator utility. This is required for the Enable Redundant Assigned Modules setting
to take effect.
a. Launch the DeltaV Database Administrator (Start | DeltaV | Engineering |
Database Administrator).
NOTE: The status bar in the lower right corner of the Database Administrator
application should state “Database Server is Running”.
b. From the File Menu, select “Shutdown Server…”.
c. Select “OK” from the Shutdown Server dialog.
NOTE: If any DeltaV client applications are running, these clients will need to be shut
down prior to shutting down the DeltaV Database Server.
After the Database Server is restarted, manually or by starting DeltaV Explorer, the
DeltaV system has the ability to configure redundancy for the Assigned Modules
subsystem.
NOTE: To remove the ability to configure redundancy for the Assigned Modules
subsystem, uncheck the “Enable Redundant Assigned Modules” checkbox and stop the
DeltaV Database following the procedure in Step 5.
6. Edit Application Station Properties
a. Navigate in the DeltaV Explorer hierarchy to Control Network.
b. Right click on the Application Station and select ‘Properties’ from the menu. The
Application Station Properties dialog will appear (see Figure 10).
NOTE: The Preferred Standby Application Station is automatically assigned the
same name as the Preferred Active Application Station, appended with the suffix
“_S”. For example, if the Preferred Active Application Station is named
REDNODE, the Preferred Standby Application Station will automatically be
named REDNODE_S.

A more detailed view of the Application Station pair status appears in DeltaV Diagnostics on
the ProfessionalPlus. The Diagnostics application is not supported on the Application Station
pair. Launch diagnostics on the ProfessionalPlus and select the Preferred Active Application
Station (see Figure 12).
Under its Redundancy subsystem, you’ll find the pair.. DeltaV Diagnostics reports the health,
status, and node address of the Preferred Active and Preferred Standby Application Stations
and the overall integrity of the communication path between the pair.
5.5. Data Transfer
The Standby Application Station may go to a “Partner is Available = No” state with a
Redundancy Status of “Failed Component” for a short period of time after the workstation is
Page 16 of 21
DeltaV Connect™ Solution for Moore® Systems Installation Manual
downloaded. This status indicates that the Standby Application Station is transferring
downloaded data from the Active Application Station. When the transfer is complete, the
Standby Application Station becomes available for use.
5.6. Manual Restart Requirement
After a switchover, DeltaV service on the formerly Active Application Station (now the
Standby) will shutdown. One must manually shutdown and re-start this Application Station in
order for it to participate in redundancy again.
5.7. Application Redundancy Limitations
When Assigned Modules subsystem redundancy is enabled in an Application Station pair,
only the Assigned Modules subsystem is redundant. No other Application Station
subsystems or applications being run on that Application Station are redundant. When the
redundant DeltaV Connect™ Solution for Moore® Systems interface is installed on
Application Station pair, only this application is redundant. No other DeltaV applications are
redundant. In the event that the active Application Station fails over to the standby
Application Station, only the control modules running in the redundant Assigned Modules
subsystem and the redundant DeltaV Connect™ Solution for Moore® Systems interface will
be available on the standby Application Station. All simplex applications running on the failed
active Application Station will not fail over.
Due to the fact that all simplex applications running on the active Application Station will not
fail over, only the following items and applications are supported for use on the Application
Station pair hosting the redundant Assigned Modules subsystem.
• Flexlock
• Help
• DeltaV Logon
• DeltaV System Tray utility
• Redundant DeltaV Connect™ Solution for Moore® Systems
The following DeltaV applications are not supported for use on the Application Station pair
where the redundant Assigned Modules subsystem is enabled. These applications may run
on the Application Station pair, but they are not supported in a redundant architecture.
Emerson Process Management strongly recommends that the following applications not be
run on the Application Station pair hosting the redundant Assigned Modules subsystem.
Inconsistent and/or erroneous data may result after an Assigned Module subsystem fail over.

3. Manually start the “DeltaV” service and log into DeltaV. Then use DeltaV Database
Administrator to create a new database.
a. Do not select the "Preserve Network Definition" option.
b. IGNORE the dialog instructing you to shutdown the DeltaV Database Server and run
Workstation Configuration.
c. Instead, set this new database to be your Active database. After doing so, IGNORE
the dialog instruction to download the ProfessionalPLUS workstation. Also, DO NOT
run Workstation Configuration Utility.
NOTE: If Version Control and Audit Trail (VCAT) was enabled on the previous DeltaV
version, then the currently active database and the previous version database names
must match, for VCAT to re-attach to the DeltaV configuration database. For example, if
in DeltaV v7.3 the configuration database was called "MyPlant" and VCAT was enabled,
then the configuration database must be called "MyPlant" in DeltaV v7.4 before enabling
VCAT. Use DeltaV Database Administrator to rename the configuration database, and
then refer to Books Online section "Maintaining Version Control History through a DeltaV
Upgrade" for details on re-attaching the VCAT database.
4. If upgrading from a previous version of DeltaV with DeltaV Connect™ Solution for
Moore® Systems, uninstall DeltaV Connect™ Solution for Moore® Systems & restart
Windows.
5. Install DeltaV Connect™ Solution for Moore® Systems for the ProfessionalPlus (covered
in Section 4.2 or 4.3, depending upon your system). This will import the APACS
configuration FHX files. This will also re-establish the necessary files to support the
runtime operation of DeltaV Connect™ Solution for Moore® Systems.
6. Import the configuration FHX, which was exported from the previous version of DeltaV
and has already been migrated by the DeltaV Upgrade Wizard using the Database
Migration Utility. This file can be located in the DVData.<date> directory.
a. Make sure that the configuration import is done with the "Include the data for a
DeltaV software upgrade" option enabled.
b. During the import select "No to All" when prompted to overwrite existing items.
7. Close DeltaV Explorer. Launch DeltaV Database Administrator, and choose File |
Shutdown server.
8. Run DeltaV Workstation Configuration Utility.
a. Click "Create ProPlus" when prompted.
b. On the next dialog that appears, click "Next".
c. Select ProfessionalPLUS workstation type and click "Next".
d. Click "Next" again to install the ProfessionalPLUS workstation.
