I am teacher Arvin, I am 24 years old and I have been standing alone as both the mother and the father

to my 7 siblings who were totally left on me last 2014. My story as a single parent started when my father
died in the same year due to chronic kidney failure and my mother decided to leave us for personal
reasons two years after my father’s passing. 2015 was the whole time when I stepped in to become the
breadwinner of the family. I was 19 that time, fresh grad. Due to so much pressure and determination to
help out my younger siblings who happened to be my own children by chance, I forced myself to work in
a private institution in Camarines Norte. Chung Hua gave me a year full of excitement, learnings and one-
of-a-kind journey of a teacher that I will always remember. There I was able to experience mingling with
pure-blooded Chinese, Filipino and Chinoy or the half-blooded Chinese during my time there. That also
gave me a lot of ideas when it comes to different approaches intended to different students with various
cultures and traditions they believed in. After a year, I tried to look for a greener pasture and left Chung
Hua with a heavy heart. If only I was working for myself that time, I wont do that because I love everything
about the institution I once worked in. Months after my resignation, I was hired in an online institution
called SPEAK ENGLISH WITH ANN TUTORIAL SERVICES that I have always considered my family. There was
no pressure in the company and everyone was there for all, supporting each other to achieve not just the
individual successes they have in mind but for the success of the company as well. While working there, I
was temporarily assigned to work for two months as mathematics and Filipino teacher in two of the
schools found in the remote areas of our province. That’s how crazy I was when it comes to the job I am
passionate about. Online teacher at night, classroom teacher in the morning. In 2017 I was given a chance
to work permanently in DEPED CAM NORTE as teacher one where I have been working there even up to
this day. If I had that strength when it comes to teaching it would the burning passion that I have towards
it. If you have the heart to teach, you would be able to connect to your students at all times. They would
be able to understand you and even appreciate every single word you utter to them. That’s one of the
significant elements you have to carry as a teacher. My hobbies are singing and song writing. I usually
spend my free hours doing these activities because they always give me time to relax and to express
whatever I feel at the moment. Well, I believe that teachers were born singers. The voice and the melodies
that come out in our mouth serve as a music to our students to keep on dancing their lives until they
found themselves successful.
