I. INTRODUCTION
We humans like delicious food. We like the scent and taste of these gourmet
dishes around the world. But when times passes, humans want more of these dishes.
They want to take it to the next level. Many reports of cannibalism are present over
the years. Many people in different countries are trying human meat. Other
countries legalize and practice cannibalism to gain satisfaction over humanity. Many
people murdered others because of this practice. By this practice, can humanity be
saved without eating one another?

II. CANNIBALISM IN JAPAN

Cannibalism is the act or practice of humans eating the flesh or internal organs of other
human beings. A person that practice cannibalism is called a cannibal. An American
prospector named Alfred Packer was accused of cannibalism during the winter of 1873 to
1875. Even our ancestors already practiced cannibalism. They are called “Homo
Antecessor” (common ancestor between Neanderthals and modern humans). Cannibalism
was also performed in other places back then, it often happens to them in times of
starvation. Some of our ancestors did it regularly; it wasn’t just a tradition or a ritual, it was
more like survival. Cannibalism is such a gruesome form of crime but in some parts of the
world is more of an experience to them. In modern days Japan is one of the countries who
cater this kind of action. Through cannibalism, they find satisfaction and gain more interest
in human meat. This shows how the world is evolving and doing more toxic actions.
III. THE KNOWN CANNIBAL IN JAPAN

Japan is one of the countries found in the practice of cannibalism. The people in Japan
want more satisfaction, so they go out of the country. A Japanese man spotted doing
cannibalism in the country Germany.

His name is Issei Sagawa. He was born in Kobe, Japan on April 26, 1949. He killed his
fellow college student with a bullet to the head. She was a 25 year old Dutch woman
named Renée Hartwelt. He then disassembled the body and kept it at home until Saturday
evening. During these two days, he ate his victim’s flesh several times.

Issei Sagawa was born prematurely and exposed to cannibalism at a very young age.
That’s the time when he learned that cannibalism had a special role in his life. As issei was
growing up, he was shy to socialize, especially with girls. At his adolescent years, he
dreamed about Euro- American girls that’s when he decided to study abroad. Little did he
know that his dream being a cannibal was going to become a reality.

He was arrested in Paris for murdering the lady. He is arrested by raping the lady after
shooting her head. He cut her up with a knife and an electrical meat slicer and ate her.

First, she collapsed onto the desk then fell to the ground with the chair, laid a towel under
her head then he undressed the lady. He had everything planned out in his head from
which part he would start feasting on and such. He started in her ass because he thought it
looked most delicious. It had to be the right cheek, not the left, then the left cheek is closer
to the heart and he is scared of blood. He abruptly bit into it, but it was too hard to bite
into. The hardness hurt his jaw and he tried cutting in with a fruit knife but it didn’t go
through. That is when he gave up and went to the market. He accepted without knowing
the details then Issei measured his strength while they made fun of him.

In 1993, Issei met an old guy in Germany. He purposely introduced many white girls him
and he paid for all the expenses but thank to that guy, he met Rhonda.

In our time, he is a celebrity cannibal in Japan. Now he is roaming in the city, Tokyo,
planning of getting a taste again in human meat.

IV. JAPAN'S CANNIBALISM IN MODERN TIMES

After of the abusing and feasting of Japanese soldiers over the meat of Indian soldiers
during the Second World War and the Issei Sagawa incident in 20th Century, Japan became
silent until the year of 2012. In the spring of 2012, Japanese illustrator Mao Sugiyama
prepared a special dinner: Mao’s male genitals (penis, testicles, and scrotum) as a 100,000
yen meal. Five diners ate the illustrator’s bait and tackle at an event in Tokyo, Japan.

The penis eating event raised the eyebrows in Japan and outside the country.
Cannibalism is not illegal in Japan per se, so if someone deciding to prepare his or her own
body parts for dinner or other meals of the day, it could be within Japanese law. The look of
human flesh is just like beef but the taste of it is more elusive. The taste of it is beefy, like
lamb with a little bit of pork and chicken because of its concentrated juiciness, the taste
was the mixture of all the meat we habitually known to man.

According to the Meat Science section of Texas A & M University Department of Animal
Science, pork, lamb, and beef average 2, 6, and 8 milligrams of myoglobin per gram of
muscle (that translates to a myoglobin concentration of 0.2%, 0.6%, 0.8%) respectively.

The cannibalism in Japan is not illegal in some circumstances. When the body of the
victim is willing to give to the people in Japan with the permission or known information of
the family or relatives, it can be within the law of Japan. But when the body is forcefully
taken, it can be the case of murder, not cannibalism. Over the years, the government of
Japan have not make any law about this cases of cannibalism rather murder. When
cannibalism is present in public or exclusive dinners with the person’s consent or signed a
contract to be willingly eaten by other people, it can be still within the law because it can
be voluntary or they can sell their bodies up to 30,000 USD. Cannibalism is not a crime in
Japan rather it can be other violations of the law is present in Japan.

V. CONCLUSION

In Japan, cannibalism was more like an experience than a crime. Through cannibalism
they somehow find comfort and satisfaction. It’s very inhumane that other people have this
kind of mindset. This just shows how the world and our society are rapidly changing in a
negative way. And it shows us how a human being is capable of through this toxic action.

Cannibalism is not a violation of the law in Japan rather a choice if you want to
experience this kind of practice. It is not considered a crime directly rather a case of murder. It
can be not a case of murder if it goes a professional and civilized process.
