Section 3: God

At all ultimate dimensions of eternity

The Holy Spirit has been on Earth for a long time (Genesis 1:1, 2). He was involved in the
creation of the universe; therefore, it would be safe to say that He has always been on Earth
(Isaiah 40:12-15). The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is completely God. The truth
is that the Holy Spirit is a person the same as the Father and the Son are within the Trinity. He
has a unique personality apart from the Father and Son, yet He is fully God and shares the same
eternal attributes.
Throughout the Bible, the Holy Spirit is referred to by many names which He shared from
the 1st and 2nd person. Besides, He has also unique names, the “Spirit of God”, the “Spirit of
Christ”, “The eternal Spirit”, “The Spirit of Truth”, etc. In pictorial and metaphorical Biblical
expression, he also revealed Himself as visible through symbols, like the “Dove”, water, oil, wind,
etc.
The Trinity is a Spirit (John 4:24). The Trinity is eternal; it has always existed and will always
exist; it had no beginning and will have no end; it exists outside of time and space, yet it
permeates time and space to the sub-atomic level. The word "Trinity" is not in the Bible. Neither
is the word "Inerrancy" but we don't discard it simply because it isn't found in the Bible. The issue
is not the word, but the concept or the idea. We don't believe in the Trinity because of the word,
but because of what the Bible teaches.
For all of eternity, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit have always been in relationship and
communication with each other, yet not as three god but as one God. The doctrine of the Trinity
states that there is one God who exists in three distinct, eternal persons: The Father, the Son,
and the Holy Spirit. Though each member of the Trinity shares the same nature as being God,
they do not all have the same functions.
The Trinity should cause us to bow in humble adoration before a God who is greater than
our minds could ever comprehend. Indeed it is a mystery, and with all the saints we bend the
knee in worship before our great God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
What a beautiful Triune God whom we serve! And what a blessing to live within His Grace,
His love, and His fellowship!
