PROCEDURES

1) Before the experiment starts, students were adequately supervised. The

apparatus was tested beforehand to prevent leaks in the system.
2) Upon starting the experiment, the suction valve was opened and the
discharge valve was closed. The water height was set to zero mm.
3) The volume flow was set to be observed at a decrement of 1 psi. Then, the
pump speed 𝑁1 was selected by adjusting the speed control to 50% and the
discharge valve was opened slightly to give the first decrement in volume
flow. When the readings were steady, the data was recorded.
4) The final measurements corresponds to the valve being fully opened. Those
steps were repeated with 2 psi decrement for 75% pump speed and 3 psi for
100% pump speed.
5) All data was tabulated.
