    GROUP ACTIVITY

    Tittle: Mapping Human Rights in Our Community


    Work Cooperatively.
    Create a map of your community & identify the rights associated with each
    major institution.

    Time: 1 hour
    Materials: Art supplies, chart paper
    Copies of UDHR, complete or simplified version

    Procedure:

    1. Draw a map of your town (or neighborhood in the case of larger


    communities). Include your homes, major public buildings,(parks, post office,
    city hall, school’s,places of worship) and public services (hospitals, fire
    department, police station) and any other places that are important to the
    community (grocery stores, cemetery, cinemas, gas stations).

    2. When the map is complete . Analyze your map from human rights
    perspective. What human rights associates with the different places on your
    map? As you identify the rights, look the relevant article(s) in the UDHR and
    write the article number(s) next to the place on the map.

    3. Present the map to the whole group & summarize your analysis of human
    rights exercised in the community.
