Summary:
This novel tells the story of two rivals families: the Montagues and the Capulets and the love story
between one boy and a girl of these families: Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo hears Juliet's declaration of love for him and then proposes a secret marriage to her. On
the day of the wedding, Romeo is involved in a brawl and, furious at the murder of a friend of his
(Benvolio), kills Tybalt, Juliet's cousin. Discovered, he is forced to flee to Mantua. Meanwhile, Juliet
is forced to marry a gentleman, but she drinks a narcotic that makes her look dead for 42 hours.
Friar Lawrence tells Romeo he will receive some news before escaping with Juliet, but the
messenger does not reach Romeo, who believes that his beloved is truly dead.
Romeo, heartbroken with pain, goes to her tomb and drinks a powerful poison that causes him to
die next to his secret bride. When the spell is over, Juliet wakes up and, after having discovered
about the accident, she pierces herself with a dagger. (= si trafigge con un pugnale)
