Appendix 3: Harmonic Analysis

1 Introduction and aim of the study

1.1 introduction
This document describes the minimum requirements to be implemented by the connection owner investigations in the
field of harmonic analysis to demonstrate compliance with the Grid Code (NAR) and requirements for Offshore Grid
Connections (ASN) TenneT Offshore GmbH (TOG).

1.2 The aim of the investigations

With the harmonic analysis is verified by the connection owner that the project-specific set of TOG for the grid
connection points of generation plant design levels can be maintained for the emission of harmonics.

For the study are to develop and by the connection owner meaningful models for the harmonic emissions from the
generating plant to pass the TOG for consideration.

The tasks to be undertaken within the framework of harmonic analysis are divided into:

1. Development and validation for the harmonic analysis of suitable models

the generating units employed and the internal network of the generating plant.

Second Implementation of harmonic analysis for multiple switches

and operating points.
Third Evaluation and Review the calculations performed with regard to the
Compliance with the requirements of TOG.

2 report document

2.1 General
The results of the harmonic analysis including all assumptions and all resource and model parameters used in a
separate summary report documented.

The earnings report should at least have the following scope:

1. Summary and Interpretation of Results

2. Assumptions and modeling
3. Harmonic analysis

4. literature and bibliography

the editors and the software used must continue to emerge, including version number from the result report.

2.2 Documentation relating to the network and model data Below an overview is given about the least to be
specified in the reporting network and model data. These should be designed primarily so that an assessment of the
calculation results is made possible by professionals and available standard software without giving further
information.

Plus the general network data (see Appendix 1 Stationary examinations) are to specify the following additional
information:

- Frequency dependence of resources impedances

- Generating unit: replica as subject to harmonics voltage source with frequency-dependent internal impedance as
a function of control and operating, filter data

2.3 graph
The graphical representation of the results (eg. As harmonic spectrum) should be designed in particular in relation to
the scale so that an evaluation is no problem on the basis of the report document by qualified personnel.

All graphical representations are to be provided with clear axis labels. If several curves shown in the same graph, then
either allow a legend or a description in the caption a unique assignment of the curves

3 Modeling
Before the start of harmonic analysis suitable models are available for all to develop within the generating plant
equipment and production units used and validated by the connection owner. The combination of these models to
provide a complete image of the entire production system. The model validation can be done either through a
comparison of the calculated system behavior with measurements of the real plant or a comparison with already
validated and recognized by TOG simulation results.

The overall model of the generating facility must be submitted before the start of the harmonic analysis of TOG for
consideration.

4 scope of investigation
Below the minimum amount of study to be performed is described. Unaffected by the downturn, the subscriber has the
duty to perform beyond studies of the defined in this TR investigations, if they are necessary to ensure a safe system
operation and will not be covered by this TR. As part of the harmonic studies to be carried out at least:

1. Determination of resonance points

Second Determination of the harmonic load on all NAP

Third Filter design, if necessary and repeat the tests referred to item 1
up to 2

The harmonic studies should be conducted for two different situations:

1. Investigation of the passive network: Here, the emission of harmonics

conditions by the active instrument (. eg forming units, etc. SVC) neglected. The passive network, including
machine transformer and possibly existing filters each generating unit is completely reproduced.

Second Examination of the active network: Here, each generating unit and, if necessary
existing operating other active agents (eg. B. SVC) as a subject to harmonics with frequency-voltage sources
internal resistance simulated.

The framework of these studies should be presented the TOG in advance for review. Essentially, should be
considered:

- different operating points (full load and no-load at nominal power factor and full capacitive and inductive full
reactive power supply)

- Expansion scenarios of the generating plant (phase step expansion of the internal network)

- multiple switches (normal switching state, probably occurring in operation special switching states)
