First aid means that we deliver immediate assistance to a person who got injured

while pending the arrival of a professional or medical team. Having the knowledge on how to
perform this important concept can save the lives of many. Bandaging technique is one of the
basic first-aid procedures in bleeding wounds and injuries. In conducting this technique, we
should use a sterile cloth. This can help in stopping or minimizing the blood outflow also for
covering the wound in order for it to not get infected by germs and bacteria.

On my video, I stated and performed the step-by-step procedure of bandaging when

dealing with a head injury regarding a scalp bleeding. First, cover the wound with a sterile
dressing. Ask the victim to apply firm and direct pressure on it. Then, stand behind the victim
and open up a triangular bandage and make a fold on the base of the bandage. Put the
bandage on the victim’s head and the center of the base just above his/her eyebrows. Place
the ends of the bandage across the top of head and hang down at the nape. Then, ask the
victim to release his/her hand from the dressing, and re-hold the dressing immediately outside
the bandage. Wrap the ends over the head, tucking it just above the victim’s ears. Cross both
ends of the triangular bandage at the nape of the victim’s neck, over the point of the bandage.
After that, tie the ends in a knot at the center of the forehead, positioning it over the hem of
the bandage. Tuck the free part of each end under the knot. Lastly, straighten and tighten the
ends of the bandage at nape, then fold the bandage from the point upward, and tuck it into
padded. The bandage should not be too tight nor too loose. Ask the victim if his/her bandage
is too tight or too loose for her/him.
