In this section of the test you will have the chance to show how well you understand spoken English.
There are four parts to this section, with special directions for each part.
Part I. Pictures
Question one to three
Directions:
For each item, there is a picture in your test book and four short statements about it on the tape.
They are spoken TWICE and are NOT written out on your test book, so you must listen carefully. You
must choose one statement – (A), (B), (C), or (D) – that best describes the picture. Then, on your
answer sheet, mark your choice.
When you hear the four statements, look at the picture in your test book and choose the statement
that best describes what you see in the picture. Then, on your answer sheet, find the number of the
question and mark your answer.
Example: Look at the following picture.
Sample answer A B C D
Choice (C) “The men are sitting on the beach.”-- best describes what is seen in the picture.
Therefore, you should mark (C) on your answer sheet.
Now let’s begin with picture number 1.

Choice (A) – “ Yes, that’ll be.” – is the best response to the question “Would you like to join us for
lunch?”
Part III
Question eight to eleven.
Directions:
In this part of the test, you will hear several short conversations. You will hear the conversations TWICE.
The conversations will not be printed in your test book, so you must listen carefully to understand what the
speakers say.
In your test book, you will read a question about each conversation. The question will be followed by four
answers. You have to choose the best answer to each question and mark it on your answer sheet.
Example:
You will hear: Man : The driver will meet you at the gate.
Woman : What kind of car will he be driving?
Man : He’ll be driving a large, black limousine
You will read: What will the woman do? Sample answer
A. Look for a specific automobile.
B. Wait at the door.
C. Drive a car. A B C D
D. Call a taxi.
Choice (A) – Look for a specific automobile.” – is the best answer to the question, “What will the
woman do?” Therefore you should mark (A) on your answer sheet.
8. What is happening?
A. The window need cleaning.
B. There is a fire.
C. There is a traffic accident.
D. Someone is smoking.
Part IV
Reading Section
INCOMPLETE DIALOGUES
Questions 16-30 are incomplete dialogues. Four choices A, B, C, or D are given beneath
each dialogue. You have to choose the one that best complete the dialogue.
16. Berta : Oh, my goodness, it’s very cold here….the window, sir?
Mr. Handy : Yes, certainly.
