FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT Activity 17 Question 1.

An employee who has been with your organisation for many years has handed in
their resignation. You are surprised they are leaving and they have not really
provided any reasons for their decisions to exit. What should you do?
Conduct and exit interview to identify the sudden reason for the resignation and

understand how they feel and perceive the organisation. Determine what if anything

can be done to resolve the problem and retain their employment. After the exit

interview it would also be a good idea to develop a strategy to prevent this from

happening again.

Exit interview should be carried out at which the exiting employee is asked:

1. Why have you decided to leave the organisation?

2. How would you describe the organisation?

3. How would you describe your relationship with your manager?

4. What can you say about communication within your team?

5. Would you describe the company as rewarding and knowledgeable of your

achievement?

6. What have you found difficult or frustrating in the company?

7. How challenging, interesting was your role?

8. What could the organisation have done or offered you to make you stay?

9. What opportunities would you have appreciated but were not given?

10. Are you satisfied with induction, training and personal development the

organization provided you with?

11. How would you describe the feedback given about your performance?

12. Did your manager motivate you?

13. What can you say about the working conditions of the company?
