CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

This chapter of the paper presents the problem and its setting. It includes the statement
of the problem, hypothesis, conceptual framework, theoretical construct, scope and delimitation
of the study, Significance of the study and the definition of terms.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to know the Effectivity of the Specialized subject in relation to work
immersion for the school year 2018-2019.

1. What is the demographic profiles of the respondents in the following terms:

1.1 Track & Strand
1.2 Final Grades in Specialized subject & Work Immersion

2. What is the relationship of the Grades of the Grade 12 students in their specialized
subject to their Work Immersion?

3. In what way the learnings of students in their specialized subjects relates to their
performance in the work immersion?

Hypothesis

H1: The specialized subject can affect the Performance in Work Immersion.
H2: The learnings of the students in their specialized subject significantly relates to their
performance in work immersion.

Purpose of the Study

The purpose of this study is to determine if there’s an effectivity of taking specialized subject to
the work immersion of the Grade 12 students School Year 2018-2019

Effectivity of Specialized subject to Work Immersion

Theoretical Construct

According to Son Yong(2018) On the job training is the actual work experience a
student undergoes to further enhance and develop their skills by actually doing th
work and performing it as a worker to the company or establishment and
contribute to its success. The training is much defined as the transfer of the
required skills and knowledge usually of a supervisor to the student trainee or
apprentice through demonstration, observation and hands-on learning.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

This study is to be held at Paranaque National High School – Baclaran because of its
accessibility and comfort. The study is limited to determine to The Effectivity of Specialized
Cooked in Relation to Work Immersion for the School Year 2018-2019.

The Researchers limited the study to 25 male and 25 female with a total of 50
respondents to be randomly selected in the Grade 12 SHS student. The selected student will be
from the 4 (four) different section of the Grade 12 SHS to present being biased and get an
objective outcome.

Enable for the researchers to conduct this research study, they used a quantitative
method, correlational research design and will use a survey structured questionnaire to gather
data without being bias. The researchers will also use a uncontrolled sampling which is random
sampling method to select their respondents.

Significance of the study

study has its own importance pursuing this study will serve and give readers a numbers of
purposes. The researchers believe that this study will benefit the following
SCHOOL- It gives the companies a sense of trust to the school if the students are able to
perform well.

STUDENTS- It helps prepare the students who will be pursuing college after Senior High
School and those who will pursue different exits like work and entrepreneurship.

TEACHERS- It will give them a fore sights of the students skills and how to fully hone them.

FAMILY- It will help them to realize the true calling of their child. They will also be ready to
support their child’s needs.

INCOMING GRADE 12 STUDENTS- It will help them to decide what course to pursue.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

ABM – Accountancy Business and Management (ABM) strand would focus on the basic
concept of financial management, business management, corporate operations, and all things that
are accounted for ABM can also lead you to careers on management and accounting which could
be sales manager, human resources, marketing director, project officer, bookkeeper, accounting
in the exploratory phase; mensuration and calculation, technical drafting clerk, internal auditor
and a lot more.

Senior High School – In 2011, the Department of Education has made the historic
implementation of strifting from the 10 year basic education curriculum to the kinder to 12
program (K-12) in phases. The added 2 year Senior High Track aims to equip with knowledge
and skills that will help you prepare better for you chosen path be it higher education,
employment or entrepreneurship.

Specialized Subject - Specialized Subject are subjects that are unique to the Career Track or
Learning Strand that the Student chose. These are similar to the major subjects that college
students take although they’re designed to be less complex than their college counterparts.
TVL – It focuses on Technical Skills Development in any area five common competencies based
on the training regulation of the Technical Education and Skill Development Authority
(TESDA), are covered maintenance of tools and equipment, Occupational Health and Safety

Work Immersion - Work Immersion is key feature in the Senior High School Curriculum and
refers to the part of that consists of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which
Grade 12 students will undergo to expose them to the actual work setting and to enrich the
competencies provided by the school

CHAPTER 2

INTRODUCTION

This Chapter of the paper presents the review of related literature, foreign literature, foreign
studies, local literature and the local studies.

LOCAL LITERATURE

According to Casiple(2014) One of the requirements in the higher education is the student
internship program (SIP) or commonly known as the On the Job Training. On the Job Training
was created to help the students but it can also have some instances. This has caused some
injuries when student/trainees met accidents while they were doing their training.

Castillo et al.(2015) developed a research that stated the university has significant contribution
to the development of the students skills, thinking skills, Personal qualities, and competencies on
resources. Hands on learning has become essential approach in making teaching and learning
process more effective. Recto(2014) OJT or Work Immersion Program will help not only the
students/trainees but the school and industry also. Schools with internship programs invite more
enrollees. Industry will open doors to talented and students that have potential could be promoted
on the industry.

FOREIGN LITERATURE

Training is one of the methods for enhancing or developing the skills of the student/trainees and
have some knowledge for the work environment (Goldstein and Ford(2002). It is recommended
as one of the first stop that the measurement tool being used by the department be reviewed and
revived to make it more responsive to the demands of the industry and curriculum.
FOREIGN STUDIES

Enterprises have difficulties filling their vacancies and many individual, especially younger
people, cannot find job because their skills are not related in the skills learned in schools and the
skills demand by the industry Bassi et al (2012).

CHAPTER 3

INTRODUCTION

This chapter presents the description of the research method to be used, the Research Design,
sample size and sampling technique, Description of the respondents, Research Instrument, Data
Gathering Procedure, Statistical Treatment, Frequency and Percentage Distribution and Rating
Scale.

Research Design
Descriptive method of research is used in this study because it aims to describe and interprets
what is it is concerned with or relationship that exists, opinions that are held, procecesses that
are going on, effects that are evident or trend that are developing.

Sample Size and Sampling Technique

The Researchers used as uncontrolled sampling technique which Randon Sampling Method to
select their respondents.

Description of Respondents

The researchers randomly pick 25 male and 25 female with a total of 50 respondents in the
Grade 12 Senior High School students from 4(four) different sections.

Research Instrument
The researcher’s used a survey structured questionnaire to gather data without being bias.

Data Gathering Procedure

Survey structured questionnaire are used in gathering data for the study.
The Sample

The respondents of the study are the Grade 12 ABM and TVL students of
Paranaque National High School-Baclaran School Year 2018-2019. The
population of Grade 12 students was composed of four (4) sections with different
number of students. The number of respondents is determined through applying the
Slovin formula and frequency and Percentage distribution.

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter describe the presentation, analysis and interpretation of data gathered by
the researcher. Data were analyzed and aims t know the effectivity of specialized subject to work
immersion for the school year 2018-2019. The researcher uses correlational research design to
determine the frequency of the students who has enough skills gained in the work immersion
with the help of specialized subjects presented were analyzed and documents are examined to
answer the questions to the statement of the problem.

respondents got 74 below final grades in work immersion.

* Majority of the respondents strongly agreed in every survey question. Majority of the
students strongly agreed that “With a help of specialized subject, It enhances my skills.”

RECOMMENDATIONS

The following can be used as a topic of the next researchers:

1. Factors that affect the Senior High School Students to undergo to the Work
Immersion.
